Iberia Refunds

I have a Business class ticket booked with Iberia.

I needed to make a change to it and called them to change it, turns out the ticket is a special fare and no changes are allowed.

If I cancel the ticket with Iberia can I claim a refund back for the taxes ?

Yes, but not the carrier surcharges if it's a non-refundable ticket. The actual taxes won't be very much unless you have a UK departure.

You won't get much back.

I'm surprised however to hear of a Business Class fare that can't be changed at all, even through paying a change fee. Another trick is to pay a bunch extra to upgrade the ticket to a more flexible booking code.

Doesn't the original non-refundable amount remain non-refundable?

Yes, but if you can get around to actually using the ticket, the amount paid for the upgrade might be cheap as a "stand-alone" ticket.

hmmmm so its a ticket leaving the UK.

LGW - MAD - LGW in their business class. I called a few times and was told non-refundable and no changes allowed on the ticket.

How can I upgrade the ticket to a higher class ? would that work to then have it refunded ?

It looks like you might have booked an Iberia Express ticket. Indeed I can find I2 Business Class fares that are no change, no refund.

You should get taxes refunded though.
