Avoid expiration of IB avios by tranferring to BA and using part of them for upgrade
I know that just plain tranferring avios in between accounts is not enough to avoid expiration.
I wonder however how this scenario would work out:
Currently
BA Executive club : 9K avios
Iberia : 73K avios
I would transfer all IB avios to BA:
BA Executive club : 82K avios
Iberia : 0 avios
And then use a small amount of them for an upgrade on a BA flight (+/- 20K)
Would this postpone the expiration date of all my avios in my BA account?

Activity within 3 years.
I'm not sure whether Combine my Avios counts as activity, so be careful when putting Avios back into an account that has been dormant for a long time. You don't want to combine avios, then have them expire immediately.
