How critical is Iberia re Business Class carryon size?
I will be flying ORD-MAD-ATH on Iberia Business Class soon.
My only carryon bag may be 1 or 2 inches too long for the 22 inch max.
How critical is Iberia regarding Business Class carryon size when only 1 bag is with pax?

Keep in mind that in markets other than U.S. Business Class pax are permitted TWO carry-on bags in addition to personal item so I don't think you will have any trouble unless they hassle you at airport security.

OP - FYI to my knowledge there are no European carriers that allow (officially) carry-ons above 22" in length. It may draw attention onboard if it doesn't fit in the locker wheels first, but you may well get away with it as your only piece in business class.

Update from OP
I re-measured my bag of choice for the ORD-MAD-ATH trip in Iberia Business Class. Although listed as a 22" bag, from floor to top of compressed handle is actually 24 inches.
Absolutely no issues at either airport or on either plane. And to my surprise, it fit in wheels first on both planes.
Iberia seemed to be a "kind" airline.

IB allows 2 pieces plus personal item in Business Plus (long haul), not on short haul Business Class. It is one piece plus personal item on flights within Europe, in both economy and business class.
