Interesting: Groupon is selling Avios in Spain

Groupon is selling avios in packs on 2000, 4000, 8000 or 12000
The value is optimal on the 2000 pack at 19 euros
Then it goes like this:

- 4000 Avios - 49€
- 8000 Avios - 99€
- 12000 Avios - 149€

You can buy 1 pack of 2000 avios a person, or 5 packs of any other

Not bad really!

Nice find. You might also earn 16 Avios per euro via the Iberia Plus shopping portal.

It's interesting how the deal gets slightly progressively worse, with the bigger package purchased.

Nice find too! I saw some 22 avios x 1 euro offer. That΄s is an amazing value.

Unfortunately my attempt to buy 2,000 Avios is now in limbo since the system crashed when trying to pay with PayPal. It left my transaction as "pending" and the one-per-person limit keeps me from just trying again with a credit card.

Now I remember why I used groupon once or twice back 5 years or so when it was popular, then gave up because it was a nightmare to actually use...

IB to BA to use on AA

This seems like a good opportunity to move the Avios to BA and use on some short haul AA flights before the devaluation in Feb.

You should receive a voucher from Groupon. Then you enter your details into a specific website you are directed to.

I didn't think I was in the market for buying Avios, but 12,000 Avios for €149 looks reasonable (1.24 Eurocent each?)

As always, YMMV. I had no difficulty, in spite of my barely rudimentary Spanish.

That's the way. Alternatively log in to Groupon and click on Mis Groupones for the same information.

Allow 15 days for delivery to the IB Avios account.

From February 2nd, <650 mi AA flights will cost 7500 Avios with BAEC, rather than 4500 as they do now. Redemptions with IB+ (which also follow a different system, counting total distance rather than individual segments) will not be affected.

Confirmed... IB+ emailed me about an additional 304 Avios for booking via the IberiaPluStore.

My account is registered in Spain, however, so I couldn't say for sure whether everybody gets Avios via the shopping portal.

But that potentially makes the larger packages good value. 149 euros for 12,000 Avios from Groupon plus another 2384 Avios from the IB+store. Getting close to one euro cent each...

Miss off the IB on the front of your IBplus number - just enter the number
