More A332 are schedule to arrive before tje end of this year and IB have announced that in 2017 all the A342 will have been retired, so in theory it should change. Unless there are delays in the deliveries or they change their mind and continue flying the old planes, which are viable with cheap oil.

I just booked an award ticket from ORD to MAD for May 2017 and it is also showing an old 7-row 2-2-2 configuration for business, despite the fact that it had said A340/600 on the booking. Is their system not yet updated or is this indeed the case?

Data point: My JFK-MAD flight in late December has just switched from a 345 to a 330-300.
Question: Our (flying with my wife) seats were changed to ROW 1 seats - the center 'honeymoon' seats together.
Is there any advantage to row 1 vs. any of the other business seats in the center section??? Would the first row of the mini-cabin be better for any reason???

My Rio flights were indeed in the old 2-2-2 configuration. And much to my amazement, I got the best airplane sleep of my life in that seat on the way back. They are fully horizontal, confortable, and while not as sexy or private as the new suites they are survivable without reservation.

The 6th A332 was delivered July 29th https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/ec-mlb
And it looks like one more A343 has been retired EC-HGV (María Guerrero)
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/ec-hgv
which means that there are 4 left now

Hi,
I've just made an Avios booking for a MAD-JFK in May 2017.
I wrongly assumed that 340-600 would mean new business class configuration. Unfortunately I did not check the seat map before booking. This is the seatmap for my flight:
The previous flight on the same day has this seat map instead:
A few questions I hope you can help me with:

A few questions I hope you can help me with:
- Any hope there'll be a swap and I'll get a new seat?
- Should I keep my flight or change it to the one in the morning? (smaller cabin?)

Same for a booking I've just made. Iberia said 340-600 when booking. And Expertflyer shows 346 340-600 in the seat map, which is the 7-row 2x2x2.

It also appears the 340-200s are quietly disappearing but there hasn't been an official announcement AFAIK. I have no idea what their D check schedule is like, but I guarantee they won't pay for it and just take them out of service. And new 330-200s are arriving pretty frequently now.
I'd say it's very likely you get a new cabin.

100% all 340-600s are new cabin at this point.

agreed its an IT Glitch. I just completed a trip from JFK > Madrid back in July. The outbound flight showed the old layout and the return trip showed the new layout. I checked online and by calling Iberia up to the week of the flight - this was our honeymoon and figured it would be bad taste if it was the new seat configuration and we weren't next to each other!
Upon check in online I saw the outbound flight had the new seating assignment. I was not seated next to my wife but thankfully there were 2 rows of the "together" seats so I was able to swap us in quickly.

Hi, thanks in advance for the guidance (and please be gentle - I'm new to IB... ).
I'm planning a trip from MAD to somewhere in the US in September 2017 (yes, next year - I like to plan ahead!). I want to fly the new business class with flat beds and direct aisle access for all.
I probably have the option of any of IB's TATL routes to the US (which I believe are BOS, JFK, MIA, ORD and LAX - right?). My preference would be either LAX or ORD (since I will be connecting to a US west coast destination).
My question: If I fly MAD to one of the destinations listed above, in September 2017, in business class, am I pretty much guaranteed a seat in the new cabin? (excluding last-minute equipment swaps, which I know can happen anytime, or other unusual circumstances)?
Thank you!
