We have 342 with four rows for next week according to EF
not very concerned about IFE as long as we have flat bed - it's a rather convenient night flight.. return will be a different story...

My spouse and I flew in seats 3D & 3H a couple days ago MAD-LAX. The aircraft for this Iberia route is a A340-300 configured with fewer J seats, hence it's designated as a A342. There are only 24 J seats total... 4 rows @ 2/2/2. The aircraft we flew on had Business Plus service, but the tired old business seats. I don't think that any aircraft seating guide, even Iberia's, depicts a true seat layout for the aircraft flying this long-haul route. However, if you are booked, you can get a realistic view of the true seat layout in your Class booked by checking your booked flight on https://www.checkmytrip.com A sidebar note... Bring your own decent earphones if you want to choose to see a crappy movie from the 12 crappy ones offered! Better yet, bring a good book!
Three weeks ago we flew to Frankfurt from Los Angeles on Lufthansa's new 747-8i and were seated in J on the upper deck. Excellent seats, food, service, entertainment, overall flight, etc.
We have flown from LAX to foreign destinations in J many times and actually prefer AA's few nonstops from LAX or AA connections via DFW or MIA. J Class on AA's 777's (especially their new 773) and 763's suits me well and American has always treated us like valued customers whether we're on a paid or award ticket.

found today on the www. of Iberia, under date July 5th, that the first A 340-600 is finished with the new Business Class, and that they have received the fourth A 330-300. Hence now 5 airplanes are with the new configuration. The A 340-600 was used on the Madrid - Buenos Aires route.
So still 16 A 340-600 to be done, each takes 7 weeks of time,.... we still have to wait a longtime before this is finished.

So it seems EC-LEV is the first A340-600 with the new C.
First flight was 29.June to EZE
http://planefinder.net/data/airplanes/EC-lev
And it looks that EC-INO is refitting at the moment

I flew JFK-MAD on the new A333 last week and returned MAD-ORD on a non-refitted A346 this week. Load out of JFK was light in business class, probably only 40% and completely packed 100% on the return to ORD. I was sat in the smaller business cabin past L2 even though there were plenty of seats up front. The seat is interesting but I did feel a bit confined in the window seat. The large TV screen is quite nice for watching videos. Dining is pretty comfortable as well, very nice to have a large table at near shoulder height next to you to put extra glasses, pour wine, coffee, etc. Sleeping not so great for me due to the confinement issue. The flight is so short though that it's hard to really ascertain.
A few comments:
- service commencement took FOREVER on both routes. It was a good 30 minutes after takeoff before the beverage service began. Totally unacceptable on short eastbound transatlantic flights. And given the light load I was completely perplexed on the delay. It was the same on the return so I can only imagine that's how its done on IB....
- The meal offered a choice of 3 mains; beef, fish or pasta. I chose beef both ways and they were not very good at all.
- I did like the service from the FAs and thought it was attentive (especially the return as the FA serving my side was excellent).
- The AVOD choices were pretty sad both ways.

It's weird how tight they are with awards given what you said. Regarding the delay in food & beverage, there are other reports of 60+ minutes.

Tell me about it. I have Blue seats on a flight for which Business class is wide open (at least 6 seats available) and none of them are open for award redemption. Just Economy seats, and I've been checking several times per day. You would think they'd like me to spend the extra Avios to fill an empty seat, but nooooooo....

I was flying yesterday MAD - JFK with the A 330-300.
Did not find that servcice was slow or late, just on time.
What is a bit strange and I think still nobody mentioned that: the AISLE in the new business is very narrow, or let´s say that is the price they pay for that configuration.
While normally a trolly can be moved on its wheels in the aisle, here it is imposible. But no problem for me,... and on the other side, it has also some advantage: people on board move/walk less while flying. I hate it when someone stands next to man and has a 2 hour conversation with someone in the seat in the other aisle.
And: I slept well, had a 2 hour "siesta" after the good lunch.
Except 2 seats, business was compeltly booked.

Ha! Agreed, the old seat is fine, actually more comfortable space-wise. However, flying alone you are stuck with what shows up next to you. In my recent case the gentleman next to me gave himself a full manicure after lunch. What a joy watching that...
