I just returned from my trip on this plane, and I can confirm that the service is terrible, but the business class seats are very nice. The cabin was also ridiculously hot, until a bunch of people complained and then the captain lowered the temp.

The food was barely edible, and the wines were decent (although not great). The IFE was pretty decent, if a little janky to use. Overall definitely a good use of 50k American miles. We were able to sleep on the overnight flight and wake up relatively rested. Curiously, most of the business class cabin was empty, but the economy was packed and didn't look like much fun.

northernstar84, how do you know EC-KZI has been retrofitted? Fingers crossed that EC-JNQ for LAX will be retrofitted soon as well!

I'm flying business on this service from Madrid to Panama City in November 15, and hoped we would have the improved cabin for our trip. I notice recent flights have used the old A340-300 aircraft, styled A340-200 on Flightstats. Posts here note that these aircraft will not be updated, and the list of aircraft for improvement at the head of this thread make no mention of these aircraft in refurbishment schedule. Will they be retired soon, in favour of the newer planes for my trip? If anyone here has more recent information please share.a

They are going to be phased out in favor of more A330s, doubtful that it would be much of an impact before your trip, though it is common to send the 330s to PTY as well.

MAD - PTY: Just did it... Old seat on this A340-300 (EC-GUQ) but impressively good service! So for a day trip, it was fine. Now of course sleeping on these seats will be another story. And given the fact I have the 1A seat on the way back, I only have little hopes...

What is the scheduled time frame for retiring the 343s with old J seats?
Can we expect the 343s to still exist next year summer time?

So flying MAD-ORD this sept on the A333, since I'm traveling with my husband, row 3 or 5 seems to be best "honeymoon" seats to get, since Row 1 and 5 are close to the galley to get some sleep, how does Iberia take food orders, front to back or back to front?

Front to back. FWIW, my wife and I sat in the last row in business last time and got the meals we wanted.

A little confused about this myself and can't seem to find any specific info. IB has loaded 330, 346, and 342 aircraft on MAD-MIA for Spring 2016. If I understand correctly, the 342 will not get updated business class. Are these aircraft being phased out of the fleet, and if so is that scheduled prior to Spring? Planning to book a trip for late April this week; best timing is on 342 flights but would not want to book old business seats.

(Madrid) and Airbus (Toulouse) have reached an agreement over the early delivery of the A330-200s the airline ordered last year,
which will now join the long-haul fleet 14 months earlier than initially planned, between December 2015, and November 2016.

The new aircraft will replace the older Airbus A340-300s.

MAD-LIM is still showing old 346 May/June 2016 on certain days. Can I assume this will be replaced by retrofit business or the new A330 by then?

When I check flights from the US to MAD in May 2016, all the flights are showing to be operated either by 340-200 or 340-600, and the 340-600 are with the old business layout according to expertflyer.com. Must be a software mistake, right? Counts for ORD as well as MIA, LAX and JFK.
