Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

I just called in to apply a DSU to a Points+Cash reservation for Grand Hyatt Erawan. I was pleasantly surprised the hear that there are available suites for DSU.. and after holding on for a minute, was told that P+C rates are not eligible for DSU. I was quite puzzled as I understood that only Points redemption is not an eligible rate for DSU.

Can someone confirm?

Update: I called in again, convinced that P+C rates are eligible.. Tried again and in the end I got the DSU.

So I am a new Diamond member (status matched via Starwood and the Twitter match). Booked my first Hyatt ever today at the Grand Hyatt Erawan and used my Suite Upgrades to confirm into the Grand Suite King.

I must say while very much I appreciate the confirmed part of all this (knowing in advance that I am upgraded) which beats the Starwood way of making me wait until 5 days prior and isn't confirmed/guaranteed (via SNAs) I do not like the need to call Hyatt and wait on hold for 10 minutes while the upgrade is applied. Had to do while traveling and Skype kept cutting out and had to start process all over again. Another 10 minutes. I get that these are worked out directly with the hotel thus the call is required - but when traveling and using Skype it makes the experience somewhat frustrating. But hey, at least it ultimately worked! Looking forward to my first ever Hyatt stay at what I hear is a lovely property in a nice Suite.

No need to call - just use PM on here to 'Gold Passport Concierge' and they can sort you out in minutes.

A fantastic resource. ^

Park Hyatt AUH
Booked a Park Suite, received a Beach View Suite measuring 1,291 Sq Ft.
Includes 1 Bedroom, 2 Bathrooms, large living room, patio, private pool and outdoor shower
Incredible upgrade, A+++ upgrade, one of the best I have experience to date.
It is essentially a private villa, closest to the beach the suite features a large private plunge pool, kitchen and butler's/maid's separate entrance.

+1 I PM GP Concierge before going to bed, and it's all taken care of by the time I get up in the morning.

GP Concierge here on FT is the truly the best service I can imagine from any hotel chain or member program.

Use the 'Private Message' function here on the FT site (top right of the forum page, level with the forum title, under your login name) - and send a message to 'Gold Passport Concierge', which is a small team (4 or 5 people) of very able Gold Passport reps.

Park Hyatt DXB
Booked a Park Suite, received a Park Executive View Suite measuring 118 sqm.
Elegant 1 Bedroom, 1.5 Bathrooms, large living room, 2 balconies with sunbeams and chairs.
Great upgrade, A+.
As always the property is an oasis of calm in the glitzy city of Dubai. Free mini bar including alcohol and snacks a major benefit.

Really, comped status and complaining about the procedure?

I don't know but I can't find it... of course I can get to private messages. But I don't see a way to send a message to someone without seeing their profile within a thread. There is no "new message" or other such link (I'm sure there is... just can't seem to locate). I may need to go back to computer school

So far I'm quite happy and looking forward to staying with Hyatt. Are you suggesting because I was comped that I am not allowed to offer an opinion? Had I not I never would've found out about this alternate email or Twitter DM option which is a fantastic option for me vs Skype. As it turns out me offering an opinion further improved not only my opinion of the Hyatt program but may help others who are also newly minted avoid the same phone issues I had.
