Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

Grand Hyatt Hong Kong
9/22/14
C&P Res w/ DSU

Was given a Grand Harbour View Suite. Seemed pretty small for a suite and to be honest, almost a waste of a DSU. Was expecting something much larger, based off the info I've read on here before.

Pic is from the GH Website:

Doesn't look that bad to me.... and it's the view that makes the room :-).

I don't know what you were reading but the property's individual thread makes the room type very clear. You can upgrade for a nominal amount to a higher category suite.

What I had read was numerous reviews from FTers who received much larger suites. I hadn't visited the individual thread for the property in several months, so I missed the discussion that the level of suite had been downgraded as well as the fact that I could have paid a bit to upgrade...

Just as an individual data point I made a reservation at the GH HK, used a DSU and was upgraded to the Grand Suite, i.e the renovated new suite. I know there have been many different upgrades that individuals have gotten so not sure what the official policy is anymore.

After applying a DSU to a stay at the Andaz 5th, my reservation is now showing the room rate for the suite rather than the room initially booked. Normal occurrence?

No - it should show the original rate. Contact Hyatt.

I didn't initially come here to relate my Diamond Suite Upgrade experiences, though I will since I'm here. I actually have another question. I recently used a suite upgrade in Dubai to get a "Park Suite" on a points+cash rate. However, when I made my reservation at the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi with points+cash, I was AUTOMATICALLY given a Park Suite. It says on my reservation something like, "Points+Cash Combined with Tier Benefit Suite Upgrade".

My question...and trust me I don't want to get greedy (I'm PLENTY happy with the Park Suite in Abu Dhabi!), but I'm wondering if a Diamond Suite Upgrade cert would add a further "confirmed" upgrade? I'm guessing no since the Upgrade certs are for the base level suite, which is what I booked directly into somehow on Cash+Points.

As for my past upgrade experiences using upgrade certs, here they are:

Andaz 5th Avenue - Splash Suite
Andaz West Hollywood - Andaz Suite Queen (the only one in the hotel!)
Grand Hyatt Istanbul - Grand Suite Twin
Park Hyatt Beijing - Park Suite
Park Hyatt Tokyo - Park Suite

Loved them all! The last two being the best and the Splash Suite at the Andaz 5th Avenue coming SUPER close to those.

Some individual properties like Park Hyatt New York have special c+p rates for booking suites. These require more cash and points than a regular c+p reservation, so you may want to confirm if this was accidentally done for you.

Or maybe you got something you weren't supposed to get, then screwed it up by talking about it.
