Lounge is on the 33rd floor of the older looking Harbor Tower, the one closer to the Marriott and Convention Center. Keycard access required and staff usually ask room numbers for breakfast and happy hour. $25 fee for bringing a guest to the lounge. There's apparently 24/7 keycard access for coffee, bottled water, computer use, etc. One bank of elevators serves floors 1-4 (meeting space, pools, etc.) and floors 29-40 (there's a view bar on 40 as well as a few rooms) while the other elevator bank on the Harbor side serves floors 1-4 and the lower room locations.

Breakfast ends at 9:30 weekdays, 11:00 weekends. Every day I saw bacon and some sort of sausage, hot eggs (scrambled plus trimmings to be added), raw ham, smoked salmon, croissants/bagels/bread varieties to be toasted, some cereal, IIRC oatmeal.

Midday snacks from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm weekdays, 11:30 am to 3:30 pm weekends.

Happy hour is from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm every day, with a selection of *free* wine and beer between 5 and 6, followed by the same wine and beer offered in the form of an honor bar from 6 to 9. Each day the food presentation includes a hot protein (cilantro chicken, grilled teriyaki salmon fillet big pieces, chicken putensca, and salmon cakes during my stay), hot mixed vegetable dish, some other cold/salad dish of the day, salad bar including slices of chicken breast, asparagus, olives, etc. with two dressings of the day, and interesting small cakes (cupcakes or pieces) for dessert.

There's a $35 plus tax resort fee (Globs exempt)

- $10 nightly F&B credit - Top of the Hyatt, Brew30, Seaview, Sally's, The Landing

- 24-Hour Fitness Center Access

- Daily 1-Hour Bicycle Usage- Wheel Fun Rentals

- One (1) Kayak or Paddleboard rental per stay

- (1) shoe shine - joey's shoe shine (no boots or suede)

- Premium High Speed Internet

- Wifi in Meeting Space for group events

- 10% Discount on Spa & Salon Services at Marilyn Monroe Spa on 3rd floor of Harbor Tower one visit per stay

- Access to hotel’s recreational courts and equipment, e.g. basketball, volleyball, and games such as giant shuffle board, Jenga, connect four, foosball, corn hole around the pool

- VIP Shopping Pass: Free and discounted items from local shops and restaurants at Seaport Village shopping center located directly outside Seaport Tower

- Rollaway Bed Rental: King rooms only

- Unlimited Phone Calls: Local & domestic long distance

- (1) 1-hr ticket for Harbor Tour per room per stay – Tour is on a modern yacht, 360 views, indoor & outdoor seating, snack bar and full service bar scenic photo opportunities

- One Craft Beer at Brew30 per room per stay

Ten minutes by taxi to/from the airport, perhaps more at rush hour. Fare was under $15 to the far end (DL, AS, UA, etc.) of the newer Terminal 2. Fare from Gaslamp area to hotel is about $7, also assuming no traffic. It's about a 20 minute walk to the Midway Museum and the cruise ship terminal/excursion boat docks.

Been there many times. You can get anything you want at the MGH but what are you willing to pay for? The Club rooms unless you have a suite are not that interesting. Dated of course since this was the first tower built. The Lounge is nice. If I were going for a non-club room would opt for the newer tower and get a room on the end corner facing full on to the bay. A associate had one a couple years ago and I was impressed. Nice with decent space being a end. These have become had to come by and he has not got one since. In the new tower stay away from the opposite end facing the tracks because of the noise. Rail engineers delight blowing the horn at night.

I would love to take your advice Jonathan but unfortunately I'm stuck with it.
Keep your expectations very low at this hotel. This used to be a property where we were always impressed with the quality of service we received, however after adding the second tower the quality of service is poor.

The Manchester Grand has always gone out of their way to make my stays great. Anytime I need something extra for a special occasion they go the extra mile and make it happen! I am here again for the Holiday weekend and they went over and above the required benefits to make my stay an enjoyable one and meet my need's. I wish all Hyatt's took care of their Diamond's like the Manchester does!

Labor Day Weekend

the Manchester Grand Hyatt exceeding my expectations. I stayed there for the first time over Labor Day Weekend. I used a paper certificate and was given an executive suite xx37/xx39 overlooking the bay on the convention center side. It was not on a GC(Grand Club) floor but I had GC access. the GC was busy, however, the service was very good. I was never charged for any alcohol drinks that were offered to me. None showed up on my statement! I was not expecting that at all! I don't know if it was pure luck or due to the holiday weekend?!?! the drink prices are $4 for mixed drinks and wine and $3 for beer. very reasonable.
Sally's Seafood Restaurant is great for very fresh seafood/sushi and the service.
I stay with what I like & ate at Sally's all three nights.
there were fireworks all three nights with a great view from top of the Hyatt lounge on the 40th floor.
When I encountered an employee in the halls I was acknowledged with a good morning, etc. I will be going back for another visit soon.

Thanks everyone for the review, anybody visited Reuben H. Fleet Science Center and/or San Diego Natural History Museum in nearby Balboa Park? Is trolley a viable solution? went to trip planner, it seems takes 0.6 + 0.3 mile walk.

We stayed there over labor day and being platinum I provided the award for club upgrade and they upgraded all three rooms that we had with only one cert. They really went out of their way for our group also. We had a wonderfull time and the lounge there is great.

This is my final night of a 6-night stay at the MGH. Employees were great. Club was great, with some variance from night to night of the main appetizer. (Sushi tonight). The only negative "note" was Friday night, when there was wild music from poolside until at least 12:30 am. All in all, one of the better HR's of the dozen or so I've stayed at.

Los Dos Joses at the club lounge at MGH

I was very impressed with the service, attitude and ambiance in the club lounge at the MGH. The gentleman working there were lovely. Just returned from a 3 night stay. The morning of my departure, I ran up to the lounge to grab some breakfast and espresso to go. I casually asked if there were any pains au chocolat. The older and more portly Jose said he had seen some in the kitchen and would be right back. I told him I didn't have time as I had a plane to catch. He insisted upon meeting me at the front desk with the pastries. Meanwhile the other Jose grabbed my luggage and escorted me down the elevators and to the front desk. I ended up having a departure entourage of two suited up captains carrying my breakfast and valises.

Does any have the email of the GM there? I would like to praise these guys to him.

The best thing to do is send an email to GP CS and the GM will see it along with a few other people.

You can call the hotel directly and ask for the GM's email. When I've told the operator I want to send in a compliment on a staff member, I've always found it easy to get the email address. I've sent a number of orchids for genuinely appreciated good service. GMs typically respond, often saying the email has been read out in the weekly staff meeting. I'm sure so many GMs hear about all the irritations that it is a genuine pleasure to learn about the good things.

Best Upgrade To Request Diamond Staying 1 Week For Convention

I'll be staying at this hotel for a conference for about one week early next year. Any idea what is typically confirmed with the Diamond suite upgrades? If I get a suite upgrade that is not on the GC floor will I still have GC access? Some have reported the new tower is nicer, how does one know which tower you are in eg can you tell by the room numbers? Is one tower closer to the conference/convention facilities?

Initially I figured would be best to get a suite on the GC floors, but not sure how easily this will be available?

Also approximate distance from SAN, and best (will not have a rental car) taxi/shuttle costs/options?

Thank you.

GC is in the "old" tower. I would think that as a Diamond on a suite upgrade, you'd be granted GC access but who knows with this property. I don't know the property well enough to tell which room numbers are in which tower. The "new" tower is quite a bit nicer but is quite a hike to the GC in the "old" tower. Is your conference in the hotel or at the San Diego Convention Center - if at the hotel the main conference rooms are in the connector between the two towers so distance is equal - if conference is at the SD Convention Center, the old tower is probably about 200 yards closer.

SAN is very close to downtown - probably a $10-15 cab ride.

Good luck on getting a suite on the GC floor, I have had many suites here over the years and only once been on the GC floor.

The airport is a 5 min cab ride away from the Grand Hyatt.

The meeting is at the convention center but a lot of the activities are at the hotel. I booked the new tower because of the view but may rethink that.

Probably too late for you now but Cloud 9 Shuttle used to have a shuttle service every half hour from the Hyatt then the Sheraton then to the airport on the hour and the half hour from like 6 am until 8-9 pm I believe. Picked up right in front.
