This thread is for the World of Hyatt Globalist members to share the experience of room (suite in particular) upgrades members receive at various Hyatt hotels and resorts. This is not about the suite upgrade by using TSU (Tier Suite Upgrade) certificate. It is discussed in a separate thread. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt-world-hyatt/1825293-world-hyatt-globalist-experiences-tier-suite-upgrades.html

All WoH members receive two (2) Tier Suite Upgrade (Suite Upgrade Awards) certificates by reaching 50 Qualifying Nights or 80,000 Base Points Milestone Awards. By reaching 60 Qualifying Nights or 100,000 Base Points Milestone Awards, all WoH members also received two (2) additional Suite Upgrade Awards (TSUs) to a total of four (2) Suite Upgrade Awards (TSUs) each year. By earning the last Milestone Awards, the WoH member also reaches WoH Globalist status and receive other elite benefits.

By using the TSU awards, the suite upgrade (to standard suite) can be confirmed at booking or any other time before check-in. Most likely only standard suite can be confirmed. Without using the TSU awards, room upgrade normally can't be confirmed.

According to WoH membership terms, https://help.hyatt.com/en/hyatt-terms/world-of-hyatt-terms.html?icamp=woh_benefitbadges_terms#/VC

(c) Best Room Available: Globalists will receive the best room available at the time of check-in at Hyatt hotels and resorts, including Standard Suites and rooms with Club lounge-access. The best room available will be determined by the applicable hotel or resort in its sole discretion and may vary from stay-to-stay. The “best room” may, but will not necessarily be, of a room type/category higher than that booked by the Member. Best-room-available benefit includes only Standard Suites (where available), which are defined as rooms within each participating hotel’s or resort’s introductory suite category. Premium, Specialty, Premier, Presidential, Diplomatic, and other suites other than Standard Suites are not included in this benefit. Not valid at Caption by Hyatt, Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Destination Residences, or Hyatt Residence Club hotels and resorts.

Some Hyatt properties will automatically recognize WoH elite status and inform member about the room upgrade opportunity. If room upgrade is not mentioned at check-in time, then member needs to request at check-in time or any other time before room is assigned.

Small Luxury Hotels does not recognize most of the WoH elite benefits. So often, room (suite) upgrade is declined.

Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego. Booked basic King, upgraded at check-in to a Signature Suite.

This was a pleasant surprise. Stayed here probably 10+ times last year as a Diamond and never got anything better than a high floor room with harbor view.

Nice. Signature suite sounds like something special.

Hyatt Regency Incline Village

Upgraded to a corner suite (family suite?) - the one with the bunk beds on the side... not really a suite but a nicer room for sure.

Actually, it's their base suite, on lower floors, created exclusively to limit DSU inventory.

Still a nice room, basically the size of three regular rooms, with a sectional sofa and 8 person table.

Can confirm. It is a gigantic suite. I was there last year and had very nice views over the bay, including the USS Midway. There was some sort of function and we were treated to fireworks with a great view!

Oh, eww.
I was thinking something better than a Grand suite.

Haven't received any sort of upgrade as a Globalist. Not even a good view - ADA rooms almost always have piss poor views of the roof and/or parking lot. Have also been unable to use any of my DSUs due to a lack of accessible suites.

I've already requalified for next year, but have moved the majority of my stays/nights back to Marriott. Many of Marriott's FS hotels do have accessible suites/club floor rooms and they actually offer some semblance of elite recognition to this crippled "Globalist." Not so at Hyatt.

Park Hyatt Saigon - received what looks like a Park Executive Suite automatically.

dining room that seats six, kitchenette, 1.5 bath, sitting room, overlooks the pool. red wine and snacks already in room, however moments later a staff came with chilled white wine as its "stated in profile that you enjoy white wine." He also offered to change the fruit platter for something else as they noticed that I do not usually touch it.

very impressed! Just as I was reconsidering whether Hyatt G is worthwhile, now I'm convinced

It's a PH and a very good one. I wouldn't base my Hyatt stays on this exceptional stay.

that is true, not all Hyatt properties would be as good. However, the properties where i clock most of my nights are generally excellent, eg GH HK and Macau, and Hyatt Manila.

I have had to shift some of my SPG stays in BKK to Erawan this year to fulfill 60 nights, this is what was making me reconsider, as Erawan is more expensive but does not feel much better than SPG options

Hyatt Regency Shanghai Global Harbor

Just checked in today for a two-night stay.

Got to the hotel just before 5:00pm, and the check in attendant said that the Club King room that I had booked was ready. I told her that I did not book a Club room; I had only booked a King room, but since Regency Suites were showing available online, to please check to be upgraded into one.

The lady said that they have very few suites, but my Club room was very nice anyway.

I told her that the benefits of Globalist WOH is to be upgraded to a suite when available at check in. The lady then said that the suites were not ready yet. I asked her when they would be ready. She said she did not know, and did not make any offer to check with housekeeping. I felt that the lady was trained to give such a response, just for the purpose of denying upgrades.

I took the key card and went to my room. Then found out that this is just the basic King room (with Regency Club access). The hotel did not even upgrade to a Deluxe room (which should be in the corners of the building with 270 degree? view). Went down to reception again to tell the lady that they did not even offer any upgrade at all, and she then told me that she had spoken to the manager of my "complaint", and the suite was now ready. She offered to move my luggage for me since I had to go out to a meeting.

Not a very good first stay. Was hoping to give this hotel some regular business since our office is in the Putuo area of Shanghai. However, if this hotel is going to play games, I will be cancelling my onwards reservations for the next few months. Will have a speak with the Duty Manager tomorrow morning.

I would be displeased to get a normal King when better was available and then she told you a boldfaced lie.
Better to talk to the Director of Rooms or GM. You would be putting down significant nights and that's the kind of games they play. Terrible.

As someone who has stayed at the GHE dozens of times over the years, I can highly recommend the Renaissance Ratchaprasong right next door. The rooms are larger, the club is just as nice and, best of all, I can almost always save 30% over the GHE.
