Tried to challenge but was told the same thing multiple times and gave up.

Calls to Hyatt reservation from my location are routed to India. Are you guys speaking with agents in the US? Wondering if this is a training issue.
Club at the Hyatt rates are not considered eligible rates and cannot be booked on Hyatt.com. Not sure why Member Discount rates would not be eligible for TSU. Some special sale rates have also been deemed illegible for TSUs, but Advance Purchase are eligible.

Not familiar with "club at the hyatt rate" but member discount rate is absolutely eligible for TSU upgrade.

If you're having problems with phone agents, pm your upgrade request to WoH Concierge here on FT. They're very good.

Club at the Hyatt rates are actually bookable on Hyatt.com. You just need to enter "club" under special offer code. Discount I usually see is 10% off standard rate for participating properties (not all properties participate). You will need to show your Club at the Hyatt card when checking in.

Just recalled this policy on using points to upgrade to a suite. I have a feeling the agents are confusing the TSU upgrade policy with this.

Thanks a lot guys Will reach out to the Hyatt FT reps for help.

Issues with consecutive reservations

I have 3 reservations for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th weeks of Sep at PH Tokyo and and only planing to use one of these, applying a TSU. My travel dates are not yet fixed, but up till now the 2nd week looked most likely and that is where I applied the TSU, with backup res for the 3rd weeks. Now the 4rd week is looking more likely, so I PMed the Hyatt Concierge on FT to move the TSU from the 2nd week to the 3rd week and got a reply that this is not possible, since the TSU has to be available for the ENTIER stay Since when do back-to-back reservations have anything to do with the actual length of stay? Am I the only one in the world who makes multiple reservations when travel dates are not fixed?

I think that since WOH they have started to regard a stay to include all reservations that are concurrent.... and you can only apply a TSU to the full stay.

A pretty dumb rule, but it has been reported before with not being able to use one for multiple concurrent reservations when only for a single reservation the availability or eligibility was there.

Does anyone else have any outstanding reservations that seem to violate these new rules? I do and am a little worried because it's for a special holiday trip. I applied a cat 1-7 cert for the first night, then booked points of three additional nights. Hyatt confirmed application of a TSU to the three additional nights, but it's one of those hotels that will not send a confirmation email.

Has anyone else done anything similar? Was your reservation honored or did they renege on the TSU?

I tacked the cat 1-7 cert onto a 6-night revenue TSU booking, but confirmed with the property by email that we were fine moving rooms if necessary and they confirmed that that would be OK. They ended up giving us the suite for the free night since it was available.

HR Sacramento: three-night rez.
  • Night 1 = points
  • Night 2 = paid
  • Night 3 = Cat 1-4 award
(Nights 2-3 were booked first ; night 1 was added about a month later). Used a TSU for night 2. Diamond line (or whatever they call it nowadays) seemed hesitant to book the TSU, citing the aforementioned rule. I replied that I could easily book the two free nights at HR, and stay elsewhere for the paid night, if that would make it easier for the rules to be followed. After all, if I'm gonna get moved between rooms each night, it's just as easy to move to a completely different hotel. I used an angle of "I want to follow the rules, and if that means putting the paid stay at a completely different chain, then I'm willing to do that, in order to help everyone follow the new rules). Agent phoned the hotel to get it okayed, then gladly booked the two-night stay. A TSU came out of my account immediately. At checkin, I was placed into a very nice suite for all three nights. Checkin and checkout were easy and friendly. Parking was comped all three nights (even though I rightfully owed parking for night 2). FWIW I've been to this hotel many times before.

Andaz Liverpool Street:
  • Night 1 = Cat 1-7 award
  • Night 2 = paid
Used a TSU for night 2. Again, phone rep did not want to book it. I explained that I'm gonna use the free night anyway. If the rules prevent me from staying at the same hotel the next night, then I surely don't want to break any rules, and I'll just stay elsewhere. This was not meant as an aggressive tactic, but instead as a friendly offer to help them adhere to the rules, by my volunteering to stay elsewhere for the paid night, so that no rules are broken. Agent called the hotel who okayed the two-night deal. TSU came out of my account immediately. I was placed into a nice suite (well, by Andaz Liverpool Street standards) for both nights. FWIW I've been to this hotel many times.

I had a 12 night stay, all points, using two TSUs. Spaced by many days, I then added a night to the end of the stay using the Cat 1-7 free night, then again many days later added two additional all points nights to the front end extending my TSUs to seven nights each. Never any comment about a Cat 1-7 not being used on all points stays (if that's an issue).

I did the 25 stays in Jan + Feb 2017 for globalist until 2019 and they are refusing to give the confirmed suite upgrades and only offering my 25k instead. This is complete .........

2 questions on TSUs

1. I want to apply 2 TSUs for a 13-night stay at a hotel that is scheduled to open in Sep. I assume that they will start accepting reservations before the actual opening but of course it will not yet be possible to apply the TSUs. I'm considering making a double reservation, one for a standard room and one for a standard suite in an attempt to block a suite for use of the TSU. Is this likely to increase likelihood that the suite will be available for TSUs?

2. One of the above TSUs has already been applied to another reservation and would be moved. It is a peak period at this other property and although they are still showing availability for the base room on which I applied the TSU, I'm always wondered what happens when you cancel a TSU but keep the original reservation when the room booked on the original reservation is no longer available. I assume the will honor the original reservation, but has anyone ever had experience doing this?

Keep tabs on your suite upgrades! I currently have:
  • Expiring February 2018 - earned 4, used 1, available 3
  • Expiring April 2018 - earned 4, used 1, available 3

All used upgrades are for past stays.

The system took an upgrade out of my "next year" stash, even though I still had plenty of upgrades in my "this year" stash.

Takeaway: every time you use an upgrade, check your account to make sure it was pulled from the correct bucket.

Is there a thread that describes how easy it is to get a non-TSU suite upgrade? ie one of the Globalist benefits is getting a room upgrade up to a standard suite, so is there a thread that talks about how regularly/easy it is to get this standard upgrade?

Edit: I found it
