Announced Hyatts that never got built?

Anyone has a clue on why some Hyatts that were announced never got built?
Also does anyone know of hotels in this case?

All I can think of right now are the following:

Duta Hyatt Regency Malacca (Malaysia)
Duta Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur
Hyatt Regency Marinasmir (Morocco)
Hyatt Regency Ujong Pandang (Indonesia)
Hyatt Regency at Clarks Field (Pampanga, Philippines)
Grand Hyatt Fiji

Delays or cancellations are function of hotel business cycles and economic conditions and cost management. This is somewhat like the movie business where certain pre-announced movies are delayed repeatedly (e.g. Leonardo diCaprio's Streets of New York, Waterworld, etc...)

But one Hyatt hotel exception is Grand Hyatt Beijing. This was never supposed to happen til mid 2003, but they pulled it off and bought a brand new hotel property and launched it a few months after July 2001, when the Beijing 2008 Olymics became official.

Seems like we have definitely heard of some in this category (or ones that seemed to take years...i.e. Bonita!)

I do know that they have a resort in the works for Tucson...hopefully they won't charge $13 for a glass of wine in the RC...assuming they have an RC!!!

Grand Hyatt Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It was on the Hyatt web site in 2001 as one of the coming soon hotels. It is off now. The developer went bankrupt and the half completed hotel is being auctioned off by the banks.

I am in KL now -- seems to be things happening -- a friend here in Malaysia who is in the travel industry says that it looks like it's finally going to be finished.

I remember seeing a sign saying "future home of a Hyatt hotel." That was in Niagara Falls, but I haven't heard anything else about it.
