My, getting a bit testy, aren't we? Especially since you're already a Diamond, wouldn't you like to see that people are given recognition because they earned it and not cos they were comped?

I've maintained my Diamond status for 10 years except for 2 years when my travel pattern changed. But otherwise I welcome the change.

That's what it means. "Tier matching is the same as status matching".

Status Match

Hi Folks,

I realise this has probably been discussed one hundred times, however my 'advanced searches' aren't providing me with any outcome...

I am an SPG Plat (based in Perth, Western Australia). I often stay at the local Sheraton (and enjoy the exec club benefits) however they are leaving the SPG program. This normally counts for 20 of my 25 stays per year - the remainder being interstate or overseas stays.

I don't fancy having to regain status with a new chain - can anyone give me advice as to whether Hyatt Gold Passport offers a status match and if so, how do I apply?

Thank you in advance!

The actual promotion or status match of Hyatt Gold Passport has been terminated. However, you may e-mail the Hyatt Gold Passport. ^^^

For the past months, Hyatt Gold Passport still offering the status match ( 1 life - time offer) and you MUST stay at least 6 times (for Platinum) and 12 times (for Diamond). And every stay you will earn 1,000 points each stay. So it is not too bad to start with Bro...

Welcome to Hyatt, btw!

This was a topic of discussion recently, as Hyatt made a major change with their policy. The thread in which it was discussed is found here:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt...formation.html

Note that the header used the term "tier match" rather than "status match", which is why it didn't come up in your search.

Based on the GPC's answer, your best bet is to go directly to (whichever local hotel) competes with the SPG property you have been using.

Good luck.

do you mean "6 stays for platinum" or 6 nights for Platinum?

You must mean 6 nights, because one can normally earn Platinum after 5 stays.

And therefore I think you also mean 12 nights for Diamond?

Based upon the most recent information in this (merged) thread, I'm not sure that they are doing this "challenge" anymore.

Anyone know if they are still doing a challenge on a one time basis at all? I'm interested in moving some or most of my stay activity to Hyatt - but never stayed at one nor have I been a member of the program. I don't really spend a lot of time in one specific location so I can't talk to local competing hotels. I would just hate to start over from scratch and not be earning bonus points until after I earn the status.

I would suggest that you contact Gold Passport Concierge on FT, and see what they can do to help.. They've been able to do things for me, that even the Plat/Diamond line can't do..

I just wanted to update everyone here regarding the Diamond Tier Challenge. I emailed Gold Passport Customer Service last night asking for a match to Hyatt Diamond based on my SPG Platinum Status. This is what I received back. Looks like the challenge is still possible..^

for those who are confused between "match" and "challenge" -

I beleive Hyatt Corporate has discontinued their "immediate" status match program...where you could provide proof of status with another group and you would be immediately matched within the GP program, which would last for at least a year, regardless of the amount of stays within that timeframe.

The offer below is a temp status match, that will only remaiin place IF you complete the required stays within the indicated timeframe.

If you can hit the nights, there is little difference between the two....but if you fall short, back to serfdom!

Anyone that has been able to get a trial without showing their previous stay record. That is by only photocopying their membership card?

I´m asking since I´m platinum with Priority Club but has a very low stay record.

I have a question about Diamond trial (fast track) offer or Diamond tier matching.

In the lifetime of membership of either SPG, HHonors, or Gold Passport, how many times can a member ask for fast track or tier matching? If there is possibility of getting it more than once, a member can practically keep the highest tier by asking fast track or tier matching over and over again.

Thanks for the responses.
