I have a DEL5K stay booked at Huntington Beach Resort 11/24 I booked using sale rate and rate was $165 , it says DEL5K on reservation, ...
This entiteled you for $ 150 F&B credit at this stay. You will earn 5K bonus points (assuming this is your first stay using this special offer code).

Call CS and ask to include DEL5K as Special Offer Code. Then you are entiteled for $ 150 F&B credit good for your stay at Hyatt Grand Champions Resort.
You don't need $ 150 F&B certificate (you have to use DELISH as Special Offer Code within your reservation), but you can take it if you get it at HB Resort.
I have a ton of Hyatt hopping coming up (pretty much the next month on the road) and some of it will be resorts. I am considering doing some back and forth between the Westin and the Hyatt in HNL in a couple of weeks, partially to generate ffn stays. But if I could check in Monday and get a $150 credit, move to the Westin on Tuesday and then back to the Hyatt on Wed (and another $150 credit), I could effectively eat pretty nicely!
Any thoughts on whether this will work? The downside is I could just reserve 3 nights and use a confirmed suite cert, but this is FT and maximizing is the game...

Include Special Offer Code DEL5K in your reservation and you will be fine!

I have learned that the right strategy to maximize the game depends heavily on the circumstances. It has taken me a few years, but I now know that, on a family vacation, switching hotels or even staying at the same hotel under different accounts (me/SO/me) is rarely worth the trouble it entails. If you travel alone (or perhaps have a spouse who is supportive of your FT quirks), I wouldn't hesitate to move. Otoh, the suite upgrade may be worth more to you than an extra $150 credit (you may not want to eat at the hotel all the time, and then the extra credit would go to waste).

According to the terms, taxes, alcohol, and tip are excluded. In reality, however, for most of my stays, I've had a flat $150 knocked off my bill. Only one agent has gone through the bill, and calculated the food only portion of the restaurant charges.
Just ran it by the SO and she said "no way, I'd rather starve than have to move back and forth for another $150." In fact, she would only agree to staying the first night at the Hyatt, and wants the other nights all at the Westin. Oh well, at least I get the 5k points, one FFN qualifier and the $150. I guess we will be having a VERY expensive lunch before we check out, since we get in at 10pm and are only there for one night!

Well, it was appropriate for you to have asked her first. However, when my wife and I either hop or switch off accounts at the same hotel, it is to earn the free nights so that we do not have to hop while on vacation. We are planning on using our free nights at in Hawaii all in one stay.
Is it so hard to look up hawaii's sales tax on google?
I hate to remind you of this, but you are also responsible for gratuities, or don't you beleive in tipping waitstaff?
What a ridiculous question.
wow - what a rude response.
I asked the question, because everyone says taxes are not included in the $150 credit but Hawaii HAS NO SALES TAX on consumers. (at least that is my understanding).
I also asked the question because I saw someone else's post (for a Hyatt Waikiki stay) and he had paid $200 but only $120 qualified for DEL5K. And that poster attributed it to taxes and resort fees.
So I wanted to understand what those taxes and resort fees were.
And yes - I tip waiters. But some restaurants force a certain tip (sometimes high). I was simply trying to understand how it works.

That is a good strategy in under normal circumstances. This year, however, with the DEL5K promo and very low prices, Hawaii can actually be a good place to generate FFNs. We paid $116+ for our upcoming stays at the Hyatt Waikiki, and I would have found it really hard to use FFN for that.
Technically, Hawaii has no sales tax. Hawaii has exercise tax which must be paid on all types of transaction by everyone, including tax-exempt non-profits. Some call it sales tax anyway.
Just to be sure...I am staying at the Hyatt in kauai using FFN's. I have 5 nights booked right now, but can get one of the nights for $220/night using DEL5K. If I do this, am I correct in assuming that I will still get a $150 Food and Beverage credit and 5K points? That seems almost too good to be true?
