Official Confirmed Diamond Suite Upgrade Experiences MASTER THREAD (WIKI)

Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

Hyatt Pier 66
Booked: a "Limited Marina view" in 2-story building on corporate rate
Received: "Tower Suite" on 13th floor with Oceanview

Did not apply a DSU
I personally assume that it's because this is a conference hotel and they sold out of the top standard room category. Also if this is the DSU suite, save your award! It's just an oversized room with a seating area. I think 100 Sq feet more than standard.

Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch

Four night stay
Booked: standard double room (cheapest available) ... 300 sq ft
Received: Executive Suite (their top category) ... 755 sq ft
I was on the waitlist to use a DSU. I reminded the hotel of this fact via email prior to checkin. Their email reply: "no need to burn a DSU ... we've got you in an Executive Suite!"

Grand Hyatt Fukuoka

3 night stay
Booked: standard queen room (cheapest available). 27 sq metres (see here: GH Fukuoka Grand Queen))
Received: Grand Suite Executive king (better than Grand suite king). 72 sq metres (see here: GH Fukuoka suites)

Used DSU. The suite smelled like smoke because GH Fukuoka still allows smoking in their suites. Ran Sharp air purifier continuously. It was an OK upgrade but wouldn't use a DSU again for it. Came with 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and a separated living area. Should have asked for their Japanese tatami suite instead.

HR Paris Charles de Gaulle

Booked standard room (applied BRG via amoma).
Applied DSU and got Club deluxe King early July 2015. They said it's a suite but basically a large corner room. The room we had faced towards the north but it was still very hot in the room and bathroom. Airco on full speed could not get the temp down. Thank god I did not get a room facing the south west..

Not really impressed by the room. At check out they told us that guest who stay in a suite do not need to pay for parking.

I have stayed at the hotel many times with a DSU or point upgrade and I assure you that is NOT a suite. I would ask for your DSU back. They have no business deceiving you. It may be that if you use a BRG that you get nothing. Hopefully the Hyatt Concierge will respond here.

1. Bethesda Hyatt
2. Governors Suite. Originally used a DSU for 2 nights, given executive suite, stay was changed to 1 night after cutoff point so they gave me an extra upgrade
3. unk sq ft
4. 1 BR/1 BA
5. B+, very nice
6. 2 entrance, LR had an exercise bike, wine bottle chiller, odd velvet couch. BR was desk, 2 comfy chairs, BA, nice TV, wireless sound system, frig, sliders to patio, about 300+ sq ft, patio table with 4 chairs, 2 chaise lounge chairs, great deck.

Positive note, bathroom had lots of girlie things to make the wife happy, special foot lotion, lavendar pillow spray, some pulse point essential oil, some of the nicest BA towels I have ever seen.

+1

It is not a suite, it is not even classified as a suite.

Some hotels offer you a larger room for a DSU in case everything else is booked and it is a good solution at some hotels during certain times, but this is a bad joke. The room you received is indeed a nice Diamond upgrade and is larger than the usual rooms (incl. a larger bath) but it is still just a corner room.

1. Name and location of hotel
Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress
2. Suite type
http://grandcypress.hyatt.com/en/hotel/rooms/suite.html
2x VIP Suite. Originally booked 2x Exec Suites with 2x DSU and upon arrival, they had upgrade 1 room to VIP but did the second so that we could be on the same floor (across the hall). And their suites allow you to choose either King bed or 2 doubles. We booked both suites with the 2 doubles. Note that you can purchase both rooms if you want and make it a 2-bedroom suite.
3. # of Sq Ft
Additional 629 sq feet over the standard room of 360 sq ft. (By comparison Exec suite is an additional 360 sq feet.
4. # of Bedrooms (Studio/Jr/1/2) and # of Bathrooms (1/1.5/2)
1 bedroom. 2 bathrooms. (1 bathroom was shower only)
5. Were you happy with the upgrade? What grade would you give it (A/B/C/D/F)
Very very happy with this upgrade. I would give it an A+. The ONLY minor complaint I had was that it wasn't on the side with the pool view and Disney view. But given that it was a free upgrade, that's not even a complaint. This was my first DSU used since being a Diamond and I would have to say that they ruined it for the rest of the Hyatts LOL.
6. Any other info (location/view/relative price vs normal rooms/etc) and pics if you want
We were traveling with 12 people (6 kids, 6 adults) total between the 2 suites so having that additional space in the living room was amazing! We had extra cabinets to put away food items (snacks and stuff for the theme parks) and lots of counter space for sandwich prep, laying out the food e.g. boxes of pizza, and sitting the kids to eat. Not to mention that it included a separate wine fridge. This was great for keeping the "adult" beverages cold w/o using any of the much needed fridge space. I paid $120/night for the room after Hyatt BRG. This room was going for about $535/night during that week.

It's literally two identical connecting rooms. Hideous.

Some appear to like it if they are a family, but as a couple there is no need for this room type.

Park Hyatt Seoul

Booked: a Park King for 20,000 GP points
Received: "Park Executce Suite" on 22th floor with great Gangnam city view.

Didn't use a DSU for this suite but it's my first time in this particular layout suite.

I'd save your DSU for a more special property. There's nothing wrong with this suite. Spacious but just a bit bland and reminds me of when the hotel was built in the mid 2000s. Not a whole lot has changed since then.
