I'm new to Hyatt but will be staying there several times over the next week. I'd rather earn Southwest credits through the bonus than Hyatt points, so I understand I have to credit miles rather than points. I'm pretty sure I registered first for the point bonus (that's what came across my screen on my reservation) then I found out about the Southwest credit bonus and I registered for that last.. all before my stay.
Now when I check in.. do I have to ask for miles and give them my Southwest #? Or is there somewhere in my profile I can choose to earn miles and pre-populate it? I've been looking on my hyatt.com profile and I don't see any 'earn miles' vs 'earn points' button.

In my experience, you have the option on each stay to chose miles or points. The hotel will preferentially assume you want points unless you tell them at check in you want airline miles. And yes, you then have to supply your membership number.
When you chose miles, be aware that you forfeit any of the Gx bonuses that your hotels might offer.
Had my first stay on this last week. I told them I wanted miles - checked my Hyatt account this morning and Hyatt Points posted.
Stupid hotel.
I know that's frustrating - and it should be done right the first time. But since it is wrong, give Customer Service a call. They can reverse it for you.

We'll see what promo Hyatt has after this. I already qualified some time ago so no need for me to stay at Hyatt's before next promo.
My stays from May 1st will be APG properties due to their promo where one can earn free weekend night for every two stays. Somewhat similar to Hyatt's FFN.

Called customer service and he changed it from points to miles. The 2000 bonus points for first 2 nights of the promo stayed on my account. I'll see if 2000 bonus miles post to AA, and if so, call and make sure the points get removed. I have my doubts, though.
If I stay for a total of 16 nts in the same hotel consecutively, do I have to check out and check back in to receive both $20k points for the first 8 nights and bonus $20K miles for the last 8 nights? I hate packing/ unpacking and moving to a different room. Can front desk or customer service just assign the points and miles to me?

huahui1 - I see that you've been a registered member of Flyertalk for quite sometime but just posted - so please allow me to welcome you to Flyertalk and our Hyatt forum.
In regards to your question, I'm really not sure what the answer is except that it would have to be handled by Hyatt customer service and not the front desk since this is a global Gold Passport promotion and not a property level one. You are aware hopefully that this promotion ends on April 30, 2009 (so unless this stay was in the past or you've been at the property for 6 nights or so already), at this point, you'll only get a maximum credit of 10 nights towards this promotion.
Alright, you just knew this question was coming, and here it is:
Does a one night stay on the night of 4/30/09 count towards this promo or not?
I have 9k VS miles banking on this so I need to know for sure. Normally I am the one answering this question and I always say: "It will not post automatically but if you call into GP they will post it for you manually".
However I just wanted to find out if the exact rules/T&Cs this promotion are different from past promos. Here is what the main promo page says:
Quote:
Stay at any Hyatt worldwide between January 9 and April 30, 2009.
But here is what the detailed T&Cs say (the bolding is mine BTW):
Quote:
Members must complete eligible stays between 01/09/2009 – 04/30/2009 at participating Hyatt Hotels & Resorts™, Andaz™, Hyatt Place™ and Hyatt Summerfield Suites™ worldwide.
Does it normally say in the detailed T&Cs of for example FFN that the stay must be COMPLETED by the last day of the month? Or is that new? Is the consensus that a one night stay next Thursday (4/30) will count or not as the 8th stay for this promo?
