My goodness, a nights-based promotion from Hyatt instead of a stays-based one. If they were to do this regularly, I might actually consider staying at Hyatts.

All-
FWIW, my Personal Line rep insists that the promotion is points AND miles:
"There is also an Airline Milage bonus offer. I honestly can't remember who all has Airline Frequent Flyer card. So, if anyone has an Airline Frequent Flyer card, please e-mail your frequent flyer number and the airline it is with and I will get you enrolled in that portion of the Promo as well. You can get both bonuses with your eligible nights."
Aha! Per her Post #51 below, Karen has admitted her error & confirmed that my italicized words below were correct all along. Oh well, the other way was 2 good 2B true anyway!
"Hgh3, I strongly suspect that she means that she can register U for both. Then on each stay U will have your choice of points or miles for that individual stay. What U choose for regular earnings, U will get that type of points/ miles for your bonus."

Karen also signed me up for the mileage portion of this promo. I was told in order to receive both the promo points and miles, I would need to choose miles as my regular earnings for each stay. So it sounds like it's possible to earn miles + promo points + promo miles but not points + promo points + promo miles. Is that everyone else's understanding as well?
EARN UP TO 20,000 BONUS MILES AT HYATT
To participate in this promotion you must join Hyatt Gold Passport via url www.goldpassport.com/united and stay between January 9, 2009 April 30, 2009 at any Hyatt Hotel & Resort™, Hyatt Place™, Hyatt Summerfield Suites™ or Andaz™ worldwide. Stays at AmeriSuites™ are not eligible toward this promotion. You must provide both your Hyatt Gold Passport and United Airlines Mileage Plus account number at time of check-in, choose miles for your stay and pay an Eligible rate.
"Eligible Rate" is any hotel published room rate, including, but not limited to rates found on hyatt.com, hyattplace.com, hyattsummerfiedsuites.com, prevailing rack rate, BAR, volume, AAA and senior citizen rates, etc. "Ineligible Rates" are discounted rates, including, but not limited to, any free night stays, Internet wholesale rates (such as priceline.com, hotels.com, etc.), traditional wholesale rates (such as GOGO Worldwide Vacations, Pleasant Holidays, etc.), airline crew rates, airline employee rates, travel agency employee rates, Club at the Hyatt discount certificate stays, Hyatt Vacation Club stays, Hyatt employee or employee family discount rates, airline interrupted-trip vouchers or contracted rooms (a contract room is a room that has been reserved pursuant to a written and executed agreement between a hotel and a corporation, government agency or individual for a negotiated room rate in exchange for an agreed upon number of rooms to be rented for an extended period of time).
Earning Structure for eligible nights between 01/09/2009 – 04/30/2009: Stay two (2) eligible nights earn 2,000 bonus miles. Stay four (4) eligible nights earn 4,000 bonus miles. Stay six (6) eligible nights earn 6,000 bonus miles. Stay eight (8) eligible nights earn 8,000 bonus miles. These miles are cumulative; total promotion bonus is 20,000 bonus miles per member. Only one bonus will be given per member regardless of the number of rooms. A qualifying stay means one or more consecutive nights at any participating hotel or resort when paying an eligible rate, whether or not the guest checks out and back in during such period; award stays do not qualify. Only one bonus will be given per member, per stay, regardless of the number of rooms.
I just can't see how we could get the miles unless we choose to earn miles for the stay. How else will they have our frequent flyer number as there is nowhere to enter it.
I'm sending an email to Karen to make sure I'm enrolled in both the points and AA promotion and to confirm. I did sign up for both via links provided by AA and this thread.

And under the points promo T&C it says - To qualify for points you must be a Hyatt Gold Passport™ member, register for the promotion, and must choose points for your stay.
Going strictly by the T&C of both promos, it wouldn't seem possible to earn promo points and promo miles on the same stay.
