Has anyone had more information yet? Hyatt website still doesn't show anything.
The Gold Passport site says:
What Will You Experience In 2009?
Hyatt will give you 20,000 reasons to experience an exotic destination, take a once-in-a-lifetime vacation or visit the far reaches of the earth. Come back to goldpassport.com beginning January 9th for more information.

Sadly I will have already done two nights before then, and don't have much more planned through the promo period in places where Hyatt is a reasonable option. Two nights for sure, probably another two. Beyond that is going to be a stretch.
I still haven't figured out how I'm going to get to 25 revenue stays with Hyatt this year as my domestic leisure travel is going to be down significantly and I want to start using some of my stash of 100k+ points. So I'm focusing on picking the better value between Hyatt and Hilton (where I've been Diamond for 6 straight years due mostly to work travel), and re-evaluating come Memorial Day.

By your profile, you are Marriott Gold. It takes 75 nights to become Platinum with Marriott, it takes a total of 78 nights to become Diamond with Hyatt (25), Diamond with Hilton (28) and Platinum wit SPG (25). Let me think about how I want to spend my nights away from home and get the best bang for my money.

Not quite sure where you got your math from but it is flawed. The goldpassport websites clearly defines the requirements to earn Hyatt DiamondHyatt Diamond. It is 25 stays or 50 Nights.

My calcultion is based upon one night = one stay. I happen to be one of those people that when they travel on business trips spends each night in a different hotel. Crazy, but efficient in maximizing benefits.
For example my last trip to Indianapolis. It was a 4 night stay, so I could have checked in to Hyatt regency and stayed there all the time, or Hyatt Place and stayed there all the time. In this case 4 nights = 1 stay. Instead I checked in Hyatt Regency the first night, Hyatt Place the second night, Regency the third and Hyatt Place again on the fourth. The result was 4 nights = 4 stays, 4000 extra points because I paid with my mastercard (2000 extra points for every 2 stays), 2000 G1 points from Hyatt Regency (1000 for each stay), 3000 Diamond amenity points (2000 from Regency, 1000 from Hyatt Place, and 2 FFNs. Is my math still flawed?

Reason: added details
I do the same - mixing brands in Indy too - the Keystone area (and up to Carmel) has got a few good ones w/ out the downtown parking fees, if that matters

Guess the new "January 9th promo"!

Anyone care to posit a guess as to the specific promo details?
Here's my guess (yes I am in an optimistic mood today): 20,000 bonus points for every 4 stays, with no maximum. Remember, that would only be about half as generous as FFN (assuming you use your FFNs at properties that charge out at 18,000 points per night).
I like this better than FFN because points don't expire in a few months, while FFNs do. Also most of my award stays are at 8--12K a night hotels.
It also depends on whether one is a one-night-stayer or a long-stayer.
I just called the Diamond line, where she gave me the info & registered me. BTW, we have a choice of earning bonus GP points (my choice) or an = number of FF miles.

Correct, and this promo is more generous than other hotel chains are offering.
HOWEVER
Rates at traditional Hyatts remain higher than I want to pay for the payback from this promo. Accordingly, for the first time in years I'm drawing down points, instead of accumulating them. If Hyatt was offering either double elite qualifying credits, or FFNs, I probably would pay the higher rates. Perhaps they will offer those inducements by the end of the year....otherwise my Diamond status may expire.
