1000 Point Diamond amenity on award stay?

So I had two award stays and I received 1000 point diamond amenity for one but not the other. I called Diamond CS and they said that one is not eligible to receive the 1000 point amentiy when staying on points of FFN award, so one should choose a different amentiy at check-in. I was not aware of this, they did make a one time exception and added the 1000 points to the other stay.

A choice of Food and Beverage or bonus points will be offered at Hyatt Hotels & Resorts Worldwide
500 bonus points will be awarded for stays at Hyatt Place and Hyatt Summerfield Suites

I don't see anything that say that here.

An eligible purchase makes it easier

If, at checkin, the 1W code is added to the account, an eligible purchase will ensure the bonus. If there are no purchases eligible for points, the bonus points will not be given automatically.

I did have eligible purchases on both stays and the 1W was on the Grand Champions folio. Diamond CS made it sound like an exception adding the 1000 point amenity.

Hrmm. Curious. I've picked food and beverage on award stays because I didn't think I could get points.

Many award stays and a couple FFN stays this past year ... I always choose the points for the Diamond amenity and have always had them posted automatically the day after checkout (and always had at least one eligible purchase with every stay).

Just want to add that I checked out of Hyatt Orange County yesterday on an Award stay (I'll miss the 5000 points/night for this property for our annual Disney trip). Points (a couple restaurant charges) showed up this morning automatically, including the 1000 point Diamond Amenity Bonus.

I had three FFN stays in Europe last month - two at Paris Vendome; one at London Churchill. None offered an amenity choice at check in. Both sent a welcome gift to my room (chocolates) and had bottles of water available. None of the stays posted a 1W bonus. A call to the GP Diamond line got these credited immediately, and showing in my account by the end of the day. Now that I think of it, I have never had the 1W bonus post automatically for any of my stays outside of North America.

I didn't think we got a 1K Diamond amenity for stays outside North America. I certainly didn't for my Japan stays in January. Has the policy changed?

Same here, I thought the 1K DIA amenity was strictly N. American properties only. Wouldn't think the policy would have changed or it would have been reported here earlier.

I got a small bottle of E.V. Olive Oil (made and labelled especially for the PH V - or so it said on the bottle's label) and a tray of breadsticks. I actually preferred this to the box of chocolates from previous stays.
Surprised that the Churchill is giving chocolates, as I usually receive a bowl of fruit which is replaced daily of the consumed items.
I always appreciate the bottles of water, also replaced daily/nightly.

I asked the Diamond line that very question about the 1W being limited to North America and the guy told me it was worldwide, right before he credited my account three times. That's not to say that it is Hyatt policy, but it happened to me today.

Churchill was fruit. Vendome was a box of 9 chocolates.

Anyone else getting the Diamond Amenity points on an award stay, w/in or outside of N. America?

How about on a paid stay outside of N. America?

Thanks.

If the points are available for a paid stay at a particular hotel, then they should also be available on a reward stay at that same hotel. If you have no incidental charges though, you will have to call to get the 1W code added manually.

I thought the 1W was limited to N. American, but a couple of the previous posters mentioned that they were told it was available for ALL Hyatt properties and got the 1W bonus even for stays outside N.A. Maybe Gold Passport Concierge can post here and clarify this for us?
