Citi thank you redemption at Andaz. Very weird. Please help.

Hi everyone. I did several searches from Google and flyer and couldn't find this answer so I'm requesting help from flytalkers. Thank you in advance

I want to book Andaz Wall street in NYC using my thank you points and noticed that the room descriptions looked different from Andaz's website:

I get the following room selections:

DOUBLE KING SIZE BED - ROOM ONLY (cheapest) -18k points/night
Standard King (1000 points more than double king room only) -19k points/night
1 king bed (5k points more than room only rate) -23k points/night

I called citi thank you rep and they said the double king size bed is literally "room only"-no bar, etc. This doesn't make sense to me at all because Andaz doesn't charge for any of their snacks and soft drinks for their guests.

The standard king-doesn't mention anything about it being "room only" so I figured this would include all the free snacks and soft drinks, but the rep said this rate didn't include any of the free perks b/c it wasn't listed.

She then went on to say that the 1 king bed is the only one that includes it.

My gut tells me the rep doesn't know what she's talking about but there's no way for me to confirm whether or not I get all the free perks associated with the room.

Can anyone please confirm? Also, is it possible to use my platinum status to get a slightly better room (e.g., like a room with a tub instead of a shower). Thank you in advance!

You could book the cheapest one and then call the hotel to find out the room description of the room you just booked. If it isn't what you want you could cancel. Maybe the CSR could help or you could book the next highest cat. room and see what you get.

It seems pretty safe to assume that the low-priced room is the "standard double room."

Yes, all Andaz have (theoretically) free drinks and snacks but in practice this is much less impressive than it sounds. Typically a couple of sodas and a granola bar and/or chips, something like that.

Have you checked cash rates? This property can be really cheap on weekends.
