Why do you think they are obligated to tell you about internal policies?

I think it's obvious from their silence: if you have to ask about it, it's not for you.

They monitor this thread and can read properly capitalized words, as well. I've found them quite helpful, no need to use all caps to get their attention.

So from this article:

http://viewfromthewing.boardingarea....allenge-offer/
  1. They eliminated the tier matching, and the status challenge that gave immediate temporary diamond status, because only a small percentage of people went on to maintain the status.
  2. Hyatt doesn’t currently have a way to offer their top tier without also giving out confirmed suite upgrades
  3. The new offer, at this point, really is meant to be limited and a sales tool.
#1 Explains why they have stopped offering the challenge, and #2 explains why they cannot offer a more limited version.

But, if the vast majority of people were just using the challenge to leech temporary Diamond benefits, then a fast track offer that does not provide those benefits up front would not be of interest to the leechers. So why would the new offer need to be limited?

From my understanding of that article it was always meant to be limited, even before. What I don't get is why there isn't a policy to allow competitor elites to take it without having to call the hotels and ask. If someone is a butt-in-bed elite with another brand then it makes sense that GP should be able to process and add them.

This.

Actually, better question... WHO at a hotel is capable of referring you?

Good Afternoon!

The best way is to contact the Sales Team or Director of Sales at a Hyatt that you frequently stay at.

Thanks!

Just called GP. I've spoke to two separate agents.
The first agent claimed that he wasn't aware of any promotion like that. After I've asked him to double-check, he came back and confirmed that there is indeed no promotion of that kind.
The second agent initially mentioned about the old diamond challenge and how it was discontinued. After double-checking, she came back and said that there is a current promotion, but in order to qualify, you have to have stayed at least 40 nights at Hyatt in 2014.

Guess that means more calls for tomorrow

Maybe if everyone ties up Hyatt Customer Support with calls like this, we can force them to make a more transparent policy!

Based on the above is the hard thing is they've gone from allowing the challenge to anyone to only people who have stayed a lot at Hyatts, which excludes anyone who previously stayed at different hotels. Isn't be point of a challenge to get competition from rivals? How many people would have stayed at a Hyatt 40 nights with no awareness that another 10 or just credit card spend would get you Diamond?

I travel a lot but have no status with anyone. Now I have consolidated so I have reservations for 40+ nights at Hyatts this year and can get the next 10 via the credit card but it's going to take the entire year to get there. I was originally hoping to get the challenge so I could enjoy the benefits in the middle of the year for a trip. But since I didn't stay at Hyatts previously I don't have anyone to nominate me for this.

I may try calling the Hyatt where I have the most reservations this year. My nights are scattered across a lot of different Hyatts, though, so it's not like I have 20 at one. Oh well.

Good news! So how did you get it? Were you able to simply call a Hyatt CSR and get it that way (as as couple folks have reported being able to do), or did you seek a nomination from a hotel?
