I was just getting ready to book an award stay there for next October. My wife and I have enjoyed our previous visit. I hope that there are only minor injuries, if any.

Dennis Luwer, who lives opposite the hotel, said a hole had been blown in the side of the building.

He said: "It's been pretty intense. We just came home and saw lots of people standing outside.

"The street has been blocked off. There is a big hole in the outer wall of the Hyatt. It's about two metres high and a metre wide.

"There's a metal garage door bulged out. We can see some windows at street level also blown out."

Apparently the explosion was in the kitchen area. More details in the BBC article including employee injuries.

I am set to arrive Wednesday, but booked Marriott as well, just in case. No information on website about future stays.

Scheduled to arrive tonight. Still haven't been able to get any information on my new accommodations, and have been told to show up to the Raddison Blue where they will rebook me.

Will update this thread with what they provide as I am on an award stay and don't want to cancel.

Just arrived in from Lax and was reading the news on the express..went to the Raddison next door (a complete zoo since guests are still trying to get their bags outa the rooms)
I was given 2 options, wait for maybe "hours" or find my own hotels and they will reimburse me. Being tired I just booked the Lux collection Park Tower and on my way there now. I would have thought they would have been a little more proactive to find me an alternate hotel...

Website has been updated:

Hyatt Regency London The Churchill experienced a small gas explosion in the basement early this morning. Twelve Hyatt associates are being treated for injuries. No guests were injured, and all guests were evacuated to nearby hotels. Hyatt's top priority is the safety and wellbeing of our guests and associates, and we are currently working to provide guests with accommodations while we evaluate whether the hotel received any significant damage.
