Award Change / Reversal: How long for points to return to account?

Hi,

I tried searching but my terms were probably bad...

I have an upcoming award stay that I just called to change (reduced stay by 1 night) today. How long will it take for the points to post back to my account?

It's been an hour or so -- still not showing the points in my account.

Is there a standard ETA, or...?

I have had experiences where the points are credited back immediately after cancellation and others where I had to call back a week later after checking my balance.

The best thing to do is ask the rep who takes the cancellation from you to also credit the points back while you are on the phone.

I have never had a problem with them doing this for me.

The fastest way is...simply call...then it will show up within in an hour..

Last time, I cancelled my reward night and waited about a week..then I

called and got my points back in an hour

Good Evening,

I hope that you have seen your points return to your Gold Passport Account; however, please feel free to PM us with your account details if you need any further assistance with this matter.

It just took patience on my part. Points were on the account again last night.

Thanks, all!

It seems like cancelled awards are swept occasionally to return the points or can be done immediately if the agent does an extra step.
