new logo for Regency hotels on website

Noticed that Regency hotels have new logos on the website map when searching on hyatt.com - here is Germany, hover over the HR spots and enjoy

Wonder if this is going to roll out, or just more IT fun n games...

The logo change has also been made to Hyatt.com, if you look at the bottom where all the different brands/flags are listed.

Very interesting as I've actually seen this logo pop up before in renderings for new or remodeled Hyatt Regency properties-- check out the property page for the new Hyatt Regency New Orleans. Not sure I really "get" the new logo, however, as it looks rather generic. To be honest, when I've seen this in the past, I just assumed it was some sort of generic placeholder.

I believe it was done as a conscious effort to distinguish/differentiate the "regency" brand from "grand" brand.

The previous regency logo looked similar to the grand logo.

Not sure when this happened, but I just noticed that the Hyatt Residence Club also has some tweaked branding.

What is interesting to note is that this now leaves only Grand Hyatt and Gold Passport with the old Hyatt logo with the larger A and the arc. I wonder if changes are in store for the Grand Hyatt branding as well.

I never really understood the difference between the "grand" and "regency" brand - I wonder if they'll just combine them together at some point and time.

Grand is more upscale than Regency.

They were testing some different logos last year at the Hyatt Online Community.

Looks like Hyatt has now rolled out a new logo for Grand Hyatt, which means the end of the old arc (or it's supposed to be a sunrise or a sunset, right?) as far as the individual flags are concerned.

What do you think of the logo? To me, it seems like the sort of generic logo you would get on a pack of free business cards. It just seems so bland for the Regency.

The new logo reminds me of one famous drawing from Kurt Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions.

I don't know about you, but I will miss the arches! It looked sleek and clean on invoices and on the side of buildings.
