Hyatt Dorado, Puerto Rico

Does anyone know what happened to the Hyatt Dorado Puerto Rico - It had the world largest river pool with water falls, grottos. It was just great and worth visiting.

The Hyatt Dorado Beach will reopen on 12/12/12 as The Ritz Carlton Reserve Dorado Beach. All new buildings on the same footprint of the old hotel. Smaller hotel (130 Rooms) plus Beachfront Condos.

The Hyatt Cerromar is still boarded up but the owners hope that once the Ritz gets going they will get the money to destroy the 7 story structure and a new 4 star hotel will rise up. 5 Years away at least.

The Hyatt Vacation Club continues but the old River pool has been drained and is fenced off. The timeshare has the great beach and the Olympic Size Pool for their use.

On an unusual side note.....the developer for the two new Hyatt Place Hotels in Puerto Rico is part of the team that bought the old Dorado properties from the Hyatt family. They are now building the new Ritz and the condos that are part of the project.
