Please keep in mind that some months some of their restaurants are closed certain nites. If you plan to eat at the hotel you may wish to call ahead and find out.
I can't imagine they will have restaurants closed over Thanksgiving?
Mary2e, can I bug you again? Were all the restaurants open when you were there?
As of last Tuesday, all restaurants were open. The Illima terrace was closed for lunch for the week of the 16th only (they are normally open for breakfast & lunch).
As a matter of fact, I believe they will be using it to serve Thanksgiving Dinner.
Everything else was open, as far as I could tell. BUT, I didn't even get near Dondero's at dinner time, so I don't know if it was open. Tidepools was, as was The Dock at the pool.

OK, one last (hopefully) question before we take off in the morning...does the club lounge serve complimentary wine, or is there a charge for it?
Also, is there a place to get some wine to keep in our room? I'm sure my wife will want some white wine...that leads to yet another question...is there a refrigerator in the suite?

I THINK that is it...at least for now!
There is a great little wine shop in Koloa, called The Wine Shop, just a couple miles from the hotel. Dan, the owner is personable and knowledgeable. Great wines and gourmet foods. Much larger variety than Costco (although not the volume ).

Aloha:
This is indeed a much better choice; quality over quantity.
You can get an Hawaiian plate next door as well.
On the top of it all the money will stay in Hawaii.
I love this property. Here's a question for Mary, and for other experts with the GHKauai. We spent Thanksgiving there last year on GP points. I don't really care about the room anymore. I generally get good views.
We're thinking about going next Thanksgiving, so I took a look at reserving for another points stay. It told me the hotel was sold out for my stay. There were some individual days that were available, either for cash, or for points. Am I just trying too early, and maybe the inventory hasn't been opened yet, or is it possible they're already sold out for Thanksgiving 2010?
