The shortest flight from Male Domestic terminal to Kooddoo Domestic Airport is ~55 minutes and the longest flight takes ~1 hour 45 minutes due to a ‘stop over’ in Kadhdhoo Domestic Airport.

A scenic and short speedboat journey of approximately 30-40 minutes (weather dependent) will follow as the final stretch of the journey to our island.
Any last minute name changes on domestic flight ticket are subject to a fee levied by the Maldivian Air. All such changes will be charged at the rate of USD 100 net per person. The exact flight timings are released two days before departure, but tend to be around these times:
  • Arrivals (Departure from MLE) : 10:30-11:00, 12:00, 13:40, 17:30hrs and last flight at 23:30
  • Departures (Departure from Kooddoo) : 0545hrs, 0800hrs, 1130hrs, 1530hrs and last departure at 1830hrs

Excess baggage will be charged and is subject to space availability and terms and conditions of the Air Carrier.

Map of the resort
Best Villas
Water villas: Generally the higher number the better. #51 is the most private
How to save money during stay
Have late breakfast (breakfast is free for all guests except if you are redeeming points), skip lunch, and only pay for dinner
The Saturday free cocktail social (manager's reception) is at 6:30pm
Bring family?
This resort is not orientated for children. No kids club, pool is not suitable for young kids, and you will need to pay the transfers for each child, and plenty of PDA.
That said, some families have loved their experience here. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...hadahaa-review. If you bring children the Hyatt does provide sitting service for $20/hour.

Also note that the resort charges $250 per child age 3 and up per night (even if the child does not require an extra bed). Only kids 2 and under are free. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...a-bed-fee-ever
Wifi
As at January 2022, the resort's wifi speed is 10-12Mbps.
Tipping
The management views employees as each part of a team, with no one more important to the hotel's success. No one wants to order room service if the groundskeeper or housekeeper has not created an inviting place to enjoy it for instance. So employees share equally the 10% service charge added into everything, including the room charge. Tipping beyond that is not necessary, but at your discretion. Unlike the service charge which is shared with all employees on the entire property, if you choose to add additional gratuity to the bill for a meal or an activity, that money is shared amongst employees of the department responsible for that meal or service (e.g. additional gratuity on a dive center bill will be shared amongst those employees, while additional gratuity on a Dining Room bill will be shared amongst the food service employees). Employees are also allowed to keep cash tips that they receive directly. Employees are rewarded with trips and other gifts when their outstanding service is brought to management's attention. A great way to reward a good employee is by letter to management.
See this post which provides more details http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/22508516-post1525.html
Ipad App
There is an Ipad in each room that has an app with a lot of useful / interesting information. If you have an Ipad, you can search & download the app for: Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa. It doesn't work on an iPhone due to the page size. Some info may be out of date or missing, so check with the resort.

Somehow the menu on the iPad App is not completely accurate. I tried to order an item and they said they did not have that on their menu.... but I said it was on the iPad app and they just told me that it's no longer available. No big deal.

Oh and I forgot to update: yes, confirmed that breakfast is free for Diamonds even on redemption stays. I took a Healthy Set on the first morning and it was just too much to eat...

I would also recommend the fishing trip. It was a lot of fun. My partner and I got 4 fishes in total. They will only cook 2 though, 1 per person only. Again, way too much meat. They should suggest guests to split it in two meals (not sure they are willing to do that though). We basically had 1 jack, 2 "jeb" (jed, jab, not sure but a very nice looking fish with small teeth) and some snapper.

Some other guests had small barracudas as well.

I loved my stay there. Super staff, super service. Did not get upgraded because it was fully booked. Quite a few Chinese tourists arrived on Friday, probably due to CNY week coming soon? Anyway, as said by others before, even when the resort is fully booked, you barely feel the "crowd", except during rare times at the Dining Room.

The Saturday night seafood BBQ buffet is worth it too! US$115++ per person, on the beach outside the Grill.
And there was a special sunset cocktail right before, on the beach as well, outside the bar. Free for all the guests: free wines/juice/mocktails/etc... and a selection of canapes and desserts served on their traditional "3 plates trays". Don't know how to call those.

I'll post some pics soon together with a short trip report. It was basically a flight out of SIN on UL through Colombo and a return on TR direct to SIN.

Enjoy Hadahaa!

Park Hyatt Maldives REVIEW - MASTER THREAD (WIKI)

just checked in at the resort to start my 7 nights stay.

received no upgrade as diamond. chocolate, cake and champagne as welcome gift. standard park villa is still nice though.

Wifi is slow, but roughly ok for uploading pix to Facebook if you don't mind trying for multiple times. There is 3G telecom stores right at the airport, but it's not open in early morning.

The connection at Male airport was quick. I arrived MLE at 6:40am on KE473. Immediately after meeting the staff after immigration was taken to board the domestic flight around 7:30pm. Arrived the resort at 10am.

Diamond guest get 4 big bottles of drinking water in the room. Totally free and will be refilled in the morning and evening if consumed.

The villa room has more than 10 power plugs in the room, including 6 universal ones for guest use. Bluetooth audio, HDMI video ready in the in-room audio video system. Can stream music via Bluetooth from iPhone/iPad., or plug in Apple TV to play movie on the TV right away. Amazing. High-tech convenient.

I just upgraded my booking in May to a Overwater Villa for $155/ night plus taxes. They had messed up my booking due to which they gave me a complimentary upgrade to Park Pool Villa and refunded 5000 Hyatt points.
I requested villa number 51 but did not get a confirmation. I did not receive a commitment on it and they informed me I will find that out on the day I arrive.
Is there anyway I can get this Villa before hand?

How did you get upgraded to Overwater villa for $155 per night? Everyone was told the upgrade fee is now $365 per night.

They won't confirm room number until you arrive at Male Airport. They will try to put you into the room closer to your request room number.

S/he said in the post that s/he had been comped an upgrade to Park Pool already. Makes sense as $155 is the difference between the $365 required to upgrade to Overwater from Park, and the $210 required to upgrade to Park Pool from Park. If you already at the Park Pool level then the upgrade $$ will be less than upgrading from the basic Park.

I think everyone receives the chocolate cake, champagne and 4 bottles of refilliable water regardless if your Diamond or not. At least I did when I stayed here a year ago as a PLT.

Does it make sense to go for only 3 nights giving transfer hassle and costs? My schedule and availability only allows for 3 night stay.

Depends on your flights times but we said that it wouldn't be worthwhile for less than 5 given how hard it is to get to.

I will be visiting the Maldives at the beginning of Jan 2015. Had planned on an 8 night stay, however due to award availability I'm now spending 3 nights at the Holiday Inn and then 5 nights at the Park Hyatt (both properties through points).

Have flicked through a lot of this thread, however have a couple of questions:

1. The half board option at USD $100++:

For the dinner component, I understand that it includes dinner at either 'The Dining Room' or a $100 credit at 'The Island Grill' (?). What does 'The Dining Room' include, is it entree/main/desert? Can the $100 credit at 'The Island Grill' be used towards drinks if only a portion is spent on the meal?

Given Diamond members must now pay a $15++ supplement for 'full breakfast' on award stays (is this 100% confirmed? recent posts are conflicting), it seems that essentially $85 for dinner may be good value (used as either a $100 credit at TIG or an entree/main/desert that may average $90-$100 at TDR).

2. Domestic Flight Transfers:

I understand these are booked by PH. On a given day there are a number of flight options and obviously during peak periods some flights will sell out. To be on a 'preferred flight' (i.e. maximum resort time and minimum waiting around at Male) can I instruct PH on which one I'd like to be on? Can they guarantee this? (service cancellations aside)

Hi,

I will be visiting for 6 nights in about 2 weeks time....

1.Any reports of how the beach is around rooms 20-26 (my request) as it seems the shifting sand is good for a beach area around this time of year.

2. Any confirmation of non-diamond members receiving free breakfast as the reservation was made prior to Dec 31, 2013. (Post #1422)

Thanks all!

Yes, 100% confirmed - I am on the Diamond Trial and contacted PH Maldives - they confirmed $15++ for Diamond members to go to a "Full Breakfast".

Strange. I subsequently emailed them asking them to confirm whether Diamonds on award stays receive the same full breakfast as someone on a paid stay (and I was very explicit in my wording) - they confirmed that was the case. Guess I'll hang onto that email!
