Which are the Most Extraordinary Hotels in the Hyatt Group?
In my stays at different Hyatt hotels I have found some of their hotels extraordinary with comfortable rooms, and suites with stunning views. In my limited exposure I would put in this category the Park Hyatt Shanghai and the Grand Hyatt Kauai .
Then there are others while extremely nice --I would subjectively put in a totally different tier such as the Park Hyatt Zurich which really has no views and the rooms are relatively small.
I am extremely interested in what hotels in the Hyatt chain other members feel combine extraordinary architecture, history, beauty and/or views well worth the trip?
My experience is there are some hotels while extremely well appointed with excellent service you could basically be in any warm climate or any city and not know the difference. I really have come to appreciate those hotels where you know you are in Hawaii, Shanghai, Chicago, etc from the view from your hotel room.
it is a very subjective matter and I appreciate the perspectives of all FT members each from their own unique experience. They can be urban or resort hotels; historic or brand new. I hope we can use this thread to cull out the very most distinctive hotels in their portfolio around the world that are well worth a special personal trip.
As requested this is an update on this thread and other threads to attempt to cull out from member input some of the most extraordinary Hyatt hotels. I have restricted it to a top 15 destination/hotel list and will continue to update this list as additional members input comes in. This of course is a very subjective draft list but I would appreciate friendly commentary on whether the hotels on this list really deserve to be on this list and in what order.
1) Park Hyatt Tokyo
2) Park Hyatt Paris Vendome
3) Park Hyatt Hamburg
4) Park Hyatt Chicago
5) Park Hyatt Sydney (March renovation)
6) Park Hyatt Shanghai

8) Grand Hyatt Kauai

14) Park Hyatt Instanbul
15) Grand Hyatt Seattle

Since it appears you define "extraordinary" to include having an extraordinary view:
If you see Mt. Fuji from your room, you'd know you weren't in Chicago! So Park Hyatt Tokyo.
And if you see the opera house from your room, you'd know you were in Sydney. Park Hyatt Sydney.

Richard in SF would you find both the views as well as the rooms and hotel in Tokyo and Sydney extraordinary?

While the Highlands hotel is located in an extraordinary spot and has remarkable views particularly from their main/building restaurant IMHO the rooms/suites themselves are tired and unexceptional.

Regarding Hakone, I never saw Fuji when I was there! Bear in mind it's not all that common to see Fuji from Tokyo either, but even if Fuji isn't visible, the view of the city is and it is remarkable. I guess the same is theoretically true with a Bund view at PH Shanghai except that in Shanghai, there is heavy smog maybe 70% of the time.
As noted above, the view of the church across the river at the Hyatt Cologne is nice but while it's a good hotel that I would be happy to stay at again, it's by no means a luxury hotel.

Put me down as another vote for PH Tokyo. Even if your room doesn't face Mt Fugi, it's such a tall building that your skyline view is pretty incredible.
They even offer all you can drink specials at the cocktail bar in the lobby. That + window seat = win.

My favorite Hyatt in the world is PH Tokyo.
Other properties I really like:
HR Hakone
GH Bangkok Spa Cottages
I have not been, but the Park Hyatt Istanbul looks like it has some nice suites with terraces and views of the city and the Bosphorous.

Park Hyatt Buenos Aires is quite nice.
I stayed at the PH SYD, but only had a little view of the bridge, if I looked at the right angle. It's all about having the right view.

Thanks Micke100,
I am at the top level at all four hotel groups and am genuinely interested in my fellow FT community members expertise and insights on the most extraordinary hotels within each group that my wife and I might be interested in traveling too.
From the response I have been getting in each of my threads there seems to be significant interest by other community members as well.
