Any updates on this?
I have some travels in Jan/Feb 2015 and would like to status match for fast track to Hyatt Diamond.
I was waiting for a period where I can confidently fulfill the challenge, and the timing of the status match withdrawal is unfortunate.
I hope there is still a case by case basis for approval in the interim period until the new official challenge is out.

I checked yesterday and received the "no status matches at this time, we stopped 10/31/14". Like you I was waiting for a good time so I could complete the challenge, and that time is the beginning of the year. Looks like HHonors is going to give me a challenge to jump from MR.
Given how Hyatt has given re-challenges to many, for genuine ones like myself, when we are ready to take and complete it, there is no way any discretion can be used. (I have never taken a challenge before)
So I think once I take on Hilton as my second top tier program, I am not sure if I will ever cross path with Hyatt again. A pity. Oh well.

I would honestly be happy with a program that simply gave status after one stayed the required trial nights, rather than before. That would cut down on abuse quite a bit.

Same here. I am now preparing for a jump to Hilton instead.

I have no doubt that Hyatt will have some kind of status match/challenge around again. It's just a matter of when and under what circumstances.

I just asked Marriott if they could match my Hyatt Diamond status and they came back and said if I stayed at a Marriott for 3 nights, I can get Silver.
I checked out the Silver benefits and it seems worse than Hyatt Platinum.
What exactly is the incentive for one to jump from Diamond to a Silver Marriott?

According to Onemileatatime, a new Diamond challenge is underway. But with some (expected) changes:
http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.c...eturn-in-2015/
Essence: No Diamond status during trial, only platinum, and no DSU.

What's there to experience with a free breakfast..... It's breakfast, you can experience it by paying for it, when you are Diamond just skip the last step in the process :-).
Most people going for the challenge should know what to expect, and they will get it after "just" 12 nights instead of 50. Quite a decent shortcut, and for those that will be able to maintain Diamond rather easy to achieve.
But let's see what they eventually come up with. I guess their not so flexible IT is holding them back on offering much outside of the standard benefits, so Plat with club/breakfast or Diamond without DSU's is probably difficult to achieve.

Not Platinum:
" Stay an additional six eligible nights for a total of 12 nights within 60 days of enrollment and enjoy Diamond status through February 2016."
Platinum:
" Stay 12 eligible nights at any Hyatt hotel within 60 days of enrollment to maintain Diamond status through February 2016."
Perhaps existing Platinum members will receive Diamond status throughout the trial?

The wording is different, depending on whether or not you are Platinum at the start of the trial:
Not Platinum:
" Stay an additional six eligible nights for a total of 12 nights within 60 days of enrollment and enjoy Diamond status through February 2016."
Platinum:
" Stay 12 eligible nights at any Hyatt hotel within 60 days of enrollment to maintain Diamond status through February 2016."
Perhaps existing Platinum members will receive Diamond status throughout the trial?

Would we get DSU's after we complete the 12 nights?
