and yes, the 1K bonus for the first SIX nights is a plus!
May this be the reason for not status-matching?

Not anymore - they now do challenges (stay 12x within 3 mos IIRC). Anyways, I'll merge this thread into the thread that discusses status "match" stuff in detail.

Since one can earn PC Platinum through ALL points, even CC bonus, Hyatt was effectively offering their top tier elite status to anyone willing to sign up for the PC Visa. Note that Hyatt doesn't offer that level to their own branded CC holders but rather offers Platinum tier status, which is still a great benefit.

I think Hyatt has done a good job closing the SM "loophole" and are on the right track with the Diamond challenge. This way they are truly targeting the kind of customer that they want to retain with an honest value proposition, and discouraging those out for some cheap bennies.

I don't believe any other hotel chain matches PC Plat, because it is easily obtained, Hyatt would know that also and base their decision on stays .... I think. I am making an assumption that hautecouTours would have had to show the nights/stays stayed with IHG on the stuff faxed or sent in. I think the old rules were you need over 10 stays to get a match, so the challenge rules should be similar.

That's correct... the challenge was not granted merely on the basis of having PC Platinum. I had to email them a screen shot of my PC account status showing the status AND a minimum of 10 stays or 30 nights within the past year.

I am currently doing the Diamond Challenge and like all new Diamond members, I instantly received 4 suite upgrade awards. It looks like I could possibliy miss the challenge by a night or two (hoping to squeeze in another trip soon). If I do not meet the required 12 nights, will my 4 suite upgrades go away?

I don't think that it will go away - but why don't you do a Mattress Run locally to finish off the challenge - Houston isn't a real expensive city to do it in anyways - and you can stack in the Possibilities promo right now to make it more lucrative - and even the WN promo if you fly WN.

Wouldn't they disappear? The Suite e-certs are a Diamond benefit, and if you lose the Diamond status by not completing the challenge, wouldn't the reset to 0?

Thanks from the newbie.

You need to have Top - Elite Loyalty Program in other Hotel's chain such as Hilton, Best Western, Marriott, Priority Club or Starwood. Otherwise, you can basically earn your Diamond when you have stay 50 nights / Platinum in 15 night (2 weeks). So it is not that bad!

Can status changes occur mid-stay without checking out of the hotel? I am under the impression that status changes won't occur until a stay posts to the account, but that would require checking out.

If auh2o is going to be living in a hotel, maybe something can be arranged in regards to status.
