Discover America Daily Getaways 5/11/10

Discover America just sold a bunch of SPG points at a deep discount on 5/3/10 (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/starw...-getaways.html), and coming up on 5/11/10 it's Hyatt's turn:
https://dailygetaways.discoveramerica.com/Default.aspx

4 packages:
100x 24,000 Gold Passport points for $225, max 1 per purchase
35x 30,000 GP points for $300, max 1 per purchase
15x 36,000 GP points for $375, max 1 per purchase
15x 69,000 GP points for $700, max 1 per purchase

I wish there were more of these available given how fast the SPG ones went, but looks like a great value and hopefully I'll be lucky enough to snag one.

The SPG ones (and there were a lot more available) were sold out in under 1 minute.

Going to try for Hyatt, but not gonna get my hopes up. I clicked within 20 seconds for SPG and couldnt place the order

Are there good transfer opportunities here?

My favorite program is AA, but this isn't worthwhile for that - about 2.5c/mile.

Per http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/13888837-post103.html they didn't fully sell out for about half an hour, even though some folks had trouble initially buying them.

Hmm...that seems pretty tasty. Might have to try and get in on those. Almost 100 PPD...sounds good to me.

Yea I heard some people were able to buy later... was pretty surprised as I tried for at least 15 minutes with absolutely no luck. But thats how it goes sometimes I guess!

What I think really sucks is that 7am for us PST is a bit inconvenient....

I might have preferred that to 10am my time. People at work kind of look at you funny when you run over to your computer and start frantically clicking to buy hotel points. Oh well, it was well worth it.

Strange how the bigger package you buy, the less value you're getting.

24K is 0.0934 cents/point
69K is 1.0144 cents/point

Idle curiosity, but are these base or bonus GP points.

<edit>
Ahh, bonus from the T&Cs.

Couple of things to note: for US residents only

also with the SPG ones, the deals were done very fast, so you need to get up at 7AM PST, many people had troubles purchasing.
Buyer beware....

Same was true with Starwood, but still such a good value even at the higher rate that all went easily.

That's true but at 1.0144 its still a very good price. Judging by how fast the SPG points went and the limit of 1 per purchase, if you want the large number of points you are going to have to bit extra.

If you read what you get though, they just give you the points and not actual certificates to stay x nights in x room. So that's the same thing everyone else is talking about. I was confused at first too.
