Not that I welcome advertising on FT, but I was a member of the club at Hyatt while I was essentially living there and did get my money's worth (though my membership, IIRC, was considerably less expensive but excluded the free night) through the discounts at the spa and on F&B (I still miss those egg tarts and watermelon shakes...).

I have a 2 night reward stay coming up here in January, and really want to see Corregidor Island and the WWII facilities. The main tour company says that the boat will arrive back at 1430, and I have a 1730 flight. Since the hotel is only 7 miles from MNL, does this give me enough time to get back to the Hyatt and also to make my flight? Also, I am looking at Sun Cruises to Corregidor, but if anyone has a better recommendation it would be greatly appreciated!

I have been to Manila 10+ times and stayed at the Hyatt many times. Traffic in Manila can be very bad. There have been times when I have been in sight of the Hyatt and it still took 20+ min to get there!
You might be kind of pushing it - esp. since I believe Manila is still one of the places they recommend getting to the airport 3 hrs ahead. But I will admit I usually still just show up @ 2 hrs (but I am normally in Biz). So that gives you 1 hr to get back to the Hyatt and get to the hotel.
Where does the Corregidor tour operate from? I have been meaning to do that tour, but never seem to get a round to it.

Here's my experience about 15 months ago:
MNL airport to Hyatt: 15 minutes, barely slowing down the whole way.
Hyatt to MNL airport: 3 hours 20 minutes. Why? A huge rainstorm flooded most of the streets in South Manila. We would drive maybe 10 meters, then wait 10-15 minutes, then drive a bit more. Arrived to SQ J counter 27 (!) minutes before departure. SQ at MNL are used to this, based on their handling of myself and the other late pax: SQ staff were posted at security, immigration, and visa tax queues, helping SQ pax navigate quickly. I was ON THE PLANE at 16:38, 11 minutes after entering the airport. That is another reason to fly SQ. However, if you'd arrived at SIN airport 27 minutes before departure, forget it.

You would make it for sure if you arrive back at the dock from your tour at 2:30 pm. However, the Sun Cruises website says you depart from Corregidor at
2:30 pm and arrive Manila at 3:45pm. If they let you leave your luggage at their office, you would still be able to make it.

I recently stayed (May 2012) at the Hyatt Manila and used a Diamond suite upgrade to get a Regency Suite King room. Photos from my trip report are posted in the Trip Reports forum for those interested in what the hotel is like.

Looks exactly like my room! Just missing the photo of the busy moped repair shop directly across the side alley, lol. Oh, I was on a very low floor, and that was the best they could do. Maybe a language barrier, but with our early departure I would have skipped the nice Manila Bay view and the free suite upgrade to have my "high floor" request honored. The street noise from Roxas Blvd and jeepneys on the adjacent alley were a factor in us not enjoying our stay. Second reason was our tactical mistake in the Market Cafe. Hint, you may be hungry, and it all looks so good-- but there is no time or plate limit. Instead, think many many small plates, that is, do not follow my path and make yourself a piled high mess of misc seafood. :O

Looking to stay in this suite using award redemption. The main complaint I hear is the "smoke" smell within the hotel and in the rooms because of the casino. I have read through tripadvisor reviews that their ventilation is not adequate to handle the casino smoke so the hotel suffers. Is this exaggerated or hit/miss. I can not handle second hand smoke smell so this is a really big issue if I am trying to decide to stay here. Any input from anyone who has stayed would be greatly appreciated.

This is particularly true with the larger tour groups run by Japanese and Chinese companies, so it is hit or miss as to whether your particular stay will include the second-hand smoke issue. On some stays it is a problem, specifically in the restaurant at breakfast for me, and on other stays you won't experience any smoking at all.
I complained about it once back in 2008 or 2009 to the hotel manager, but I don't know how much good it did. The restaurant has a smoking section, so fire up if you care to, but I draw the line at smoking in the elevator and once had a lively discussion with a liquored-up Japanese fellow who combined smoking with an inability to use the card reader that made the ride up a very long one.
