I recently used one of my GBP 40 vouchers to book a stay. Unfortunately, my plans have changed by 1 day. On the website, it says I can cancel and get the get all the cash paid refunded to my credit card, but will I have the GBP 40 voucher refunded also to make another booking?

I'd ring the hotel directly and try to rearrange - they may be willing to play ball, especially if it is a cancellable rate anyway.

I am currently getting (via various e-mail addresses) a rash of e-mail from Expedia saying "Welcome Back from Hanoi" and hoping that I enjoyed my stay in the decrepit zero-star hostel that was booked, coincidentally for just under £20 ....

And I'm sure the folks running those £20 hostels in Hanoi wondered why their Expedia bookings surged, and why the guests never show up!
I bet they'll be disappointed when the bookings dry up. Easy come, easy go, I guess.

I wonder if Expedia's happy they did this, overall.
I, for one, got burned enough here that I'll never use their site again, and that includes the US version.
Given their roots as a Microsoft company, I guess I should have been warned, but, hey, I wanted the cash. Then I never got it.

Email mismatch might be the most probable reason of failing to receive 40 voucher. I believe the system works fine for most people.

In these two known cases (I'm guessing I had others) I was there. Emails were accurate to the letter. No dice.
This was under the old rules, right before the change. I'm pretty sure I was not alone in getting skunked.

I can assure you are not alone. My last three 20 £ bookings did not give me any 40 £ voucher

My last 20gbp referral never produced a 40 ... and I know it was done correctly. Post-coupon apocalypse.
Not crying over it but if anyone is holding onto 20's for a 40 its seems its not a definite you will ever get the 40.
