friend cancelled booking without cost (due to change of plans)

I used the 40 GBP code

No problems

Should work with one-use-credit card generator flawlessly

this is very strange - it sounds like your referred friend booked venetian macau without utilizing 20 GBP voucher (as this property is not expedia special rate), but you still got your 40 GBP voucher for referring?!

I think he means different vouchers. BKK has a number of choices that clock in under GBP20, but I'd stay away from anything with Sawadee in the name, lest ye get a spartan 4th floor room in a place with no elevator. I haven't stayed at the Fragrance places in Singapore but have stayed at other cheapies in that country. It's important not to have unrealistic expectations.

Your assumption is correct. He was not able to use the 20 GBP coupon on that booking as the 'enter coupon here' field only show up for Expedia Special Rates.

I don't recall the promotion T&C in detail but I think the point of the promotion was to get new members - not to get new members who would utilize the 20 GBP coupon. As long as the referred person becomes a new user and books something w Expedia all requirements for the 40 GBP voucher are met.

Correct me if I'm wrong - at least this is how it worked for my referral.

Regards

Codes received!

Received two of my 40 GBP codes this morning. Took about two weeks to post to my account. I was getting worried that they would not post, but they are now credited. I am still waiting on two others. They were booked by friends over two weeks ago.

I have been using(not abusing) the promo for a few weeks now. All gone smoothly including using vouchers at hotels not supposedly included in the promo and booking rooms in my name from accounts set up in family member's names and cards.
I have now accumulated four GBP40 vouchers and am planning to book 4 consecutive nights at a hotel in Vegas, this will be the first time I have made a booking anywhere for more than a single night and am worried it may cause a problem.
Has anyone else made several bookings for consecutive nights at the same property and did they have any problems?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I would like to report that bookings made for 2 friends on consecutive nights were just cancelled with no explanation!

I did when I booked multiple nights for a family member with my credit card. They called to ask me if they were my bookings. I said yes. The bookings were fine. That said, I'd "dribble" the bookings out over several days to try to avoid a problem.

Did you use your own credit card for these bookings?

You mean rooms booked with your CC# but someone else's name on the account, or rooms booked under your own Expedia account and with your own CC#, but with someone else listed as the staying guest?

If I may ask, was it a 20GBP or 40GBP voucher?

I used 2 different credit cards for their bookings and these cards were never used before on expedia.

But were the credit cards in the name of the traveller?

That seems to be the big red flag.

Another question: How do they notify you of the cancellations? Do they send an e-mail?

I have had no problems with the credit card and traveller not matching for three single night bookings so far.
