They don't seem to be in a big hurry to fix the bug there. So you need multiple accounts, credit card numbers and e-mails to do multiple bookings (clearing cookies and changing IPs between sessions also might be for good measure). They're really making you EARN it, as it can all be surprisingly labor intensive.

So, to summarize: one account + 1 e-mail address + 1 separate credit card number (that gets address-verified) = the chance to book one hotel on a GBP20 and one on a GBP40 voucher.
I can concur this is the case as of today (6/jul)
Thanks Rusty for the summary

Expedia.fr has some use...tidbit for the interested

It would appear that you cannot re-use e-mails between the .fr and .co.uk sites, i.e. if you receive a GBP20 referral the same e-mail address cannot receive a EUR20 one via the .fr refer-a-friend program.

You also can't log in with your UK account and password on the .fr site. So you have to have a fresh e-mail and create a fresh account. Not terribly difficult.

However, word has it that you CAN re-use a credit card number used to make a GBP20 and/or GBP40 booking on the UK site. So if you're running out of credit card numbers you might shuffle over for an extra dip on the .fr site. 20 euros is worth about $28.50, BTW.

* * *

I can do referrals for either the UK (GBP20) or FR (EUR20) site. PM me with e-mail address to have the voucher sent to (from Expedia). If you don't ask specifically for a EUR20 voucher for the FR site I'll assume you want the GBP20 voucher for the UK site, as the UK site will be easier for most people to use (FR site is in French, though not hard to figure out).

Booked my first night in Frankfurt and got £20 off

Went to book my second and third night it is coming up with a discount of £25.89 and not £40 ???

Any idea why this happen?

--- Edit

Just booked this over the phone and they took the full amount but will issue me a refund so i get the full £40 discount.

On a side note i was able to book using the same card as my first booking (Where i got the £20 discount).

The discount it gives online is the LESSER of a night's room cost or GBP40 (if using a GBP 40 voucher).

So, if you book a 2-night stay at GBP30 a night and then try to apply a GBP40 voucher to the GBP60 subtotal, it'll only take GBP30 off online, not GBP40.

Also, the voucher won't cover the taxes/booking fee even if the total comes in under GBP40. So if you have 1 night in a room with GBP30 cost and GBP3 booking fee and apply a GBP40 voucher, it'll take the GBP30 off and still leave the GBP3 booking fee.

So to optimize it you need something close to GBP40 on the room rate and for a one-night booking, and you'll still get charged the booking fee.

i have no clue what happened, but i gave the 40GBP voucher to a friend- and she used it without any problem. so I guess the email doesnt need to match.credit card need to be unique for the 40 GBP voucher though. (I tried using a voucher as well and it didnt seem to have a problem, bit admittedly i didnt run my credit card for that...)

I think sometimes it is because you only know somebody's personal Email, well, that somebody prefers to use a "business" Email for hotel booking and the like, so your referral bonus goes down the drain...

Just a quick report from Osaka -

2 nights at Hotel Claiton Shin Osaka - fine
1 night at **SWISSOTEL NANKAI**!!!! which was also fine.

First two nights were at the pitiful sum of 4p a night XD. Yay for £40.04 hotels but surprisingly it's really convenient for Osaka cos it's within 5 minutes walk of the Midotsujii Line 2 stations up from Umeda. I'd stay there again. Perfectly placed for ones travels.

The Swissotel Nankai has a good offer for room only - internet, breakfast and gymn for 3,500++ (taxes separate)

Made 4 bookings on same hotel for different people over 2 nights.
One of my friends got a call about the expedia booking on the answer machine.

He is not sure the call could be coming from an expedia agent or an Amex agent (card used for the booking).

Have you ever been called by an expedia agent for one of your bookings?

Are they becoming suspicious?

Thanx

Make sure that everything matches on the credit card - full name, address, phone etc. They check it very carefully and cancel mismatches.

Most likely it's from the credit card company because any cross-border transactions (i.e. charged in a different currency from the card's native currency) are automatically likely to be flagged, even for small amounts. Lots of the credit-card fraud out there is in cross-border transactions, especially with online merchants. I've had these calls w/r/t Expedia bookings, as well as other types of transactions like buying Air Asia tickets online from the U.S.
