I'm glad the Citi Virtual CC number thing is being brought up, because I noticed Expedia tends to place a one GBP hold on your card if you happen to be able to snatch a zero cost hotel, which means they are still processing your CC even if your hotel total cost comes up to complete nothing. And what annoys me is after so many days of booking but before my actual checking-in the hotel that hold is never removed, yeah, I know. one GBP is like nothing, but I am still not comfortable with that. I am inclined to close that virtual number that's associated with that hold, but am not sure if there will be consequence.

Unsolicited, I've had people send me private messages asking for codes. They are shocked (and grateful) when I explain to them to get their own, instead of paying me 20GBP for the privilege of referring them.
I don't want to spoil anyone's party, but you know, it's not the flyertalk way. Besides, anyone can book their own rooms in (say) Vegas for under 10GBP using a 20 voucher (and paying a small amount of tax and fees) and generate their own 40 voucher. So you might as well share the wealth.
Yeah, but since there's a simple work-around (buy your own rooms for a buck), it's a little silly. Folks are "hiding the ball" for a buck?
Where it says " I have a Voucher" and you check on "Saved Voucher-Refer a Friend" but you dont enter a voucher number, the reapplied price automatically deducts 10 pounds. Why this amount and not the total 20 pounds?

the cap at the room rate if the room price is less than 20, this way their system wont have a negative amount before u pay service fee
Has anyone testified any of the rules? 40 GBP/ expedia account? emails must match, etc.
reason is, one of my emails have 4 different email addresses and I have lost count which one I've used for which code!
I've done a dummy booking to activate the 40 GBP voucher but it will take me 2 days to figure out, before then i would be mad to sort out the 4 email addresses with the same mailbox!
Programs: NW silver, Spirit Somebody; DL, CO, UA once gold now dirt. AA & US for magazines.

I don't have a card for that bank (Bill Maher often calls it Sh**tybank on his show...it's great to be on HBO and not need sponsors!), but I think when you make a booking it's not only doing the 1GBP authorization but also running an Address Verification System (AVS) check.
FWIW, I did one on a Simon mall gift card (U.S. Bank) and the authorization went away, but I can't say how long it took (The booking posted about 3 weeks ago and the stay itself was about a week ago). OTOH, the Simon cards have a $20 minimum and $2 service fee, so virtual card numbers are no doubt more convenient.

Yes, trust me, the e-mail must match. I discovered this the hard way.
Remember, you can send a reminder email to your 'friend' here
thx. great 60p down the drain. I'll hassle my fd to do it properly then!
Not trying to contradict raffles, but my experience seems to be otherwise. I had mixed up some of friends emails and vouchers but still ended up with the 40pounds voucher subsequently. Naturally, YMMV.

Good luck.
1x 40 GBP voucher?
or 1 for each referral?
and how long did they take to get posted??
But won't the Asian hotel charge your credit card for no show penalty? Should we call the hotels and let them know that we are not coming?
I think that is like yelling at them "hey I'm not coming. please penalize me." and then next thing you know, you WILL get charged for that no-show per Expedia's policy.
As someone else mentioned earlier, it'd work out for everyone if you simply do the no-show, because in that case, the hotel still receives the payment from Expedia yet without any cost at all, and Expedia receives their commission from the booking and the booking fee is covered by the voucher, and you, will be rewarded with a new and bigger voucher.
