Sure, as long as the hotel is an Expedia special-rate hotel. All pricing is in pounds.

Nice. Spent 3 nights there myself on these vouchers just 2 weeks ago. Won a net total of $4 (spent more time just checking the place out, I guess). Staying at the Golden Gate (the city's oldest hotel) on these vouchers was something of an experience. Best of luck!

Oh well! This promotion ended up being pretty useful overall.
PM me the code, please, if it's gone useless. thanks

At this point, there is no reason to not simply refer yourself.

I know why people want to offer others codes, but that is not the flyertalk spirit, IMHO.

Does it mean you have to have 100 different credit cards?

I was able to refer several of my friends. However, I do not have that many credit cards. Is there a way to use the same credit card for the 40 pounds certificate?

Please advise. TIA.

You need to use one of those systems that generates one-use-only credit card numbers for people who are scared of internet fraud.

If you are simply cashing in a £20 voucher for a £15 hotel room (to trigger a £40 voucher) then you can use any card in any name, as no charge will be made to the card. Simply ask your friends, family etc for their numbers or root around your office for corporate cards left in desks. Card can be in any name.

More complex would be a) setting up 200 Expedia accounts - 100 for the referral and 100 to redeem the £40 vouchers and b) finding 100 nights to spend in hotels in order to redeem them!

A reminder of the key points of this promo:

* The e-mail address you give in the referral MUST be the same e-mail address used to create the new Expedia account by the recipient. If a £20 voucher is used against a different e-mail address, you DON'T get the £40 voucher (so those people who are posting £20 codes on here are wasting their time if they expect a £40 voucher to arrive) even though the £20 discount will still work.

* The £40 vouchers usually arrive 2 days after the £20 voucher is redeemed

* You can only redeem 1 £40 voucher per Expedia account, despite what the T&C's say. To book multiple nights for yourself, you need to open multiple Expedia accounts.

* A credit / debit card can only be used once in conjunction with this promo. Trying to use a card which has already been used with a voucher (whether on the same Expedia account or a different one) will result in the voucher being rejected. You therefore need access to multiple credit card numbers.

* The £40 vouchers can only be used against Expedia Special Rate hotels or 'flight and hotel' packages. The restriction in the T&C's about certain hotel chains being excluded is not being applied.

Honestly, I've been wondering about all these people offering referrals since the promo began!

How do you do that? I'm always asked to pay a small tax/fee. Like a buck. So you'll need a credit card to that. Citi Virtual Numbers works. You might want to notify Citi first, however, because if they see a foreign transaction for a buck, their programs may think someone is trying to "test" your card.

Unsolicited, I've had people send me private messages asking for codes. They are shocked (and grateful) when I explain to them to get their own, instead of paying me 20GBP for the privilege of referring them.

I don't want to spoil anyone's party, but you know, it's not the flyertalk way. Besides, anyone can book their own rooms in (say) Vegas for under 10GBP using a 20 voucher (and paying a small amount of tax and fees) and generate their own 40 voucher. So you might as well share the wealth.

Have you found rooms with no taxes (or where the tax is negated by the voucher)? I haven't found any room where you get no charge at all.

Thanks iahphx and Raffles for the advise.

How many different virtual numbers can be generated with 1 Citi credit card?

As many as you desire. I will say that if you go crazy on this, though, either your credit card company or Expedia are likely to flag your accounts for "irregularities."

So control yourselves.

Maybe not the FlyerTalk way, but it's the way of the blog-o-sphere I guess....
