Just a word of caution to all...I booked a room on Monday 4 1/2 * Marriott Deluxe Oceanview room on Oahu. Spoke to the CSR today, and said she just wanted to congratulate me and make sure I had received my confirmation e-mail. She was about to hang up when I decided to inquire about taxes and confirm that I wouldn't be responsible for paying them. After a brief silence, she said "Well, you may be responsible for filing a 1099. We will send you the info." I know this has been reported here already, but some here have had doubts whether the 1099 thing was really true. Here's the e-mail:

Dear xxxxxxxx,
Thank you for your e-mail. In regards to taxes:
The value of hotel rooms purchased during the World For A Dollar campaign may be taxable as income. Individuals are solely responsible for the payment of all federal, state and local income or excise taxes on prize. Depending on the value of the rooms, you may be required to provide a social security number for 1099/income tax filing purposes. If required, LMT will send you the appropriate documentation for tax filing. In addition, you are responsible for all travel/transportation to and from hotel, meals, beverages, phone charges, incidentals, or other expenses or costs relating to the prize not expressly set forth above. You are not responsible for hotel taxes.
Additionally, as I stated above, I have a confirmed reservation from LMT for a Deluxe Oceanview Room. I typed the confirmation # in at Marriott's website, and sure enough my reservation is confirmed, but in the lowest category room which is:
Guest room, 1 King or 2 Double, Mountain or Golf view
I am very disappointed, but hopefully LMT will honor their word and take care of this. I will let you all know how it turns out when I speak to them again.
So those of you who got in on those $900/night villas.....might want to double check on that.
Here's a follow up, spoke to LMT today to let them know about about the room discrepancy. Agent put me on hold for a few while she called the hotel. Came back and said it was taken care of. Sure enough, Marriott has updated the reservation to Deluxe Oceanview.
Agent then asked if I received the e-mail regarding 1099. I confirmed, she gave me no new info about it.
If it is 15 minutes per calendar day and there was only a five minute segment this morning, assuming the contest is still going on (still on website), there would have to be a sale between now and midnight.
This is like counting cards in blackjack....if we are right.
It actually just dawned on me. Not that the clues that they have provided have helped an, because they certainly have not; but in the last video The Jan and Kev (That's what is what I am going to refer to them as from now on)go to bed on Thursday night at 11:56 or something and then wake up the next morning at 6:03 right? If this is the case, we are in for a long night.
omfg I thought they went to bed at 11...cant believe we have 2 more hours of this...
yep, me too. in fact, i was on logged when the one went off this morning, 7am or so central, and i was getting my son off to school
right after that, i went to the computer, and pretty much have not left.
no shower (nice, huh?), hubby ordered pizza for dinner after he came home from work,(nice again, huh?) and my dog keeps pawing at me to move, i think she thinks i have turned to stone or something in this chair, and she wants to make sure i am alive
While we're all waiting around for tonight...anyone have any thoughts on tomorrow's time(s)? Even though it seems previous videos haven't been much help...
must say though, the fam seems to adjusting to my "absence" tonight just fine
hubby's watching some basketball game, and the kids are getting extra time on the 360
the only ones not so happy are me and my pooch. such a faithful gal. she is as messed up as i am.
and, i agree, starting to wonder if this deal warrants the scraping of my usual priorities. just hope that when vacation time comes around, the economy won't be so completely tanked that i can't come up with cabfare to the airport
