Please don't accuse HotelClub of "pulling a scam". The site is pretty upfront about what its charging. Out of, I'd estimate, 50,000 uses of this offer already on this thread, you're the only one who has had a problem. How you can call 1 "problem" in 50000, "pulling a scam" is beyond me.
i understand what you are saying. the USD50 did came off my bill. the thing that I am concerned right now is that in the voucher, I need to pay hotel of USD42.16, when in fact you people are thinking this is free. How can you explain this then?

That is why I have to verify it with Hotelclub, as I also called the hotel and they told me I need to pay USD42.16 upon checkin, when in fact I used the 50 dollars coupon(hotel rate per night is 48USD btw)

Seeing how many rooms were sold under the promo might.

Sorry to step in and destroy your dreams. It is indeed not a "mistake". But I believe that Hotelclub will sooner or later think that it was a mistake to be so generous because some individuals cannot control their greed.

A single phone call will sure not damage the deal. But abusing the deal by opening dozens of accounts per person may finally damage the deal.

By the way: This is not a FT deal. It has been out for months and it has been discussed in several other forums

Orbitz owns them. I've posted this a number of times in this thread.

If the hotel stay is in the United States or Canada, they'll never know the reservations came from HotelClub. All reservations say Orbitz on them.

It's been discussed since July in this forum. I was surprised the other thread never got much action £25 off your next hotel booking ($49) + $10 + £15/sale for UK And that was $59 since the two promos could be combined.

Like I said, don't compare your situation to everyone else's. None of my vouchers say this, and I have reciepts showing the rooms paid in full. My vouchers state in bold:

IMPORTANT NOTE TO HOTEL
A credit card authorisation form authorising you to charge HotelClub - Aust Business No: 85 092 445 442 has been sent. If this has not been received, please contact HotelClub - Aust Business No: 85 092 445 442 immediately and a new form will be submitted. Under no circumstances must you charge the guest for the services listed on this voucher. Any additional charges are to be billed direct to the guest and collected by the hotel at the time of service. Please ensure the voucher is signed when presented by the guest and retained together with your registration form for future reference.

So, I'm safe

Just a hunch, but anything with "UK" in the title is likely overlooked. I generally think people don't like participating in overseas deals - I may be wrong, though.

I monitor this hotel forum religiously, and I never even peeked inside that thread. I don't even remember it appearing, at all. It likely was there, but I probably had assumed it was a snoozer, given the "UK Sale" in its title.

No one said it originated on Flyertalk. A reader of my website told me about the targeted Thai code, and upon deeper searching for a public code, I found this promotion on RetailMeNot.

How self righteous and judgmental of you. Do you need a hand stepping down from that high horse?

I hope they understand that HotelClub.com is an overseas company -Australia - where your credit/debit card payment is processed. So they are participating in one now (even though it is owned by Orbitz).

True, I think everyone knows that is Aussie based. But, I think it was the US$50 that grabbed my attention. I hadn't even heard of HotelClub before this.

But the question I don't see addresses are what hotels are members of the HotelClub? Independents, boutiques, Marriott, Hilton.... Is it even worth joining if I will never stay at a hotel in the "club"?

HotelClub is just a booking engine like Orbitz, Travelocity, Hotels.com, etc. The only real reason to "join" is to take advantage of the $50 discount. Booking hotels through HotelClub will also net you some credit toward future bookings, but whether you choose to continue to patronize HotelClub or not is entirely up to you.

Amen! This is what I've been saying for awhile now.

Every quality/star level is available. They just don't have as many hotels as you would normally see on an Orbitz, Travelocity, Priceline or Expedia. I don't understand what you mean by "club".

For Las Vegas you will see many of the top properties such as Bellagio, Wynn, Mirage, TI, Planet Hollywood, MGM Grand, THEHotel, Mandalay Bay. Paris, Hard Rock, Golden Nugget, JW Marriott. Some properties are missing such Palazzo and Venetian. Some are good deals, some are not. I booked TI for $19, Planet Hollywood for $9, Mirage for $29 for different dates during the late fall and winter.

You hit the jackpot (bada bing) in Vegas. I guess those hotels do a lot of promos, and the economy is particularly hurting out there.

Elsewhere, the deals on places you might actually want to stay are limited. I did see them match a prepaid Hilton-family promo, so you can get $50 off those rates. That puts some prices at priceline-like rates. For instance, I saw a W. Palm Beach Embassy suites at something like $40+ after the discount. A good deal. But I mostly see $15 Comfort Inn opportunities.
