As mentioned before I was one of the people that had all of my foxtel accounts cancelled. I'm definitely disappointed, but enjoyed the 6 nights that I got in.
As other people have mentioned, this is hit and miss right now. I was honest with my name and CC address each and maybe that was my problem. At the same time. I have turned multiple friends on to this and nobody has reported any problems yet.
One of the Problems with the Foxtel accounts as well as the others was the booking deadline. As soon as you booked many rooms you became more transparent and easier to figure out.
That being said the new $30 promo seems to be better, because there is no booking deadline at least for now. $30 is obviously not as good as $50, but by holding off and booking a few days before travel your true identity nay not be out there long enough for your reservations to be cancelled.
Yeah, mine are in a few weeks. I'm thinking that it might be better for me if I manually canceled at least the first stay, ate the $15 fee, and rebooked "honestly," just to avoid any surprises at the check-in desk.
Also, there are valid reasons for different people to use the same CC# for bookings -- like a small business with a single corporate card. Hence the need to do this manually.

There are no reported incidents of check-in "surprises". This does not seem to be their modus operandi.

Sounds paranoid, but I'm arriving on a late-evening flight -- which is during business hours in Australia. I don't want the "your reservation has been canceled" email arriving while I'm en route, which would result in a nasty surprise at check-in.
The Las Vegas incident could have been more the hotel's fault than the booking service's.

It was because that particular FTer used an address which was different from his CC billing address. Other than that incident in a month ago, has anyone experience cancellation on arrival recently?

Considering I have booked expensive tickets on AA/UA with fake addresses online just because they don't accept my country for online booking - I find something smells a bit foul in that excuse... All went through no probs with the airlines but hotelclub would address match for a few $$$?
To add to the mix - what sort of stays are you all getting cancelled?
I have a couple of stays, all expensive where I paid way more than the bonus money myself. All intact.

Just because AA/UA's website does not allow other country except USA in their booking site doesn't mean matching Billing Address is not relevant. Try to buy online with Bestbuy or Dell or eBay or Paypal or any online retailers with wrong billing address and your order will be rejected or On Hold until you contact them.
Edit: I want to add expedia and priceline to the list just in case you say the above aren't hotel booking websites.
I have 11 nights coming up in Feb. and none has been cancelled yet. They are $30 to $80 above the $50 credit.

True - I just ordered a new fridge online and accidentally made an error in my billing address (just one character typo). My order was placed on hold and my credit card was frozen until I called in and allowed the charge.

I have no idea- just saying I wouldn't be surprised if that cancellation at check-in due to wrong billing address was just BS from HotelClub. Considering how HotelClub seems to be handling the cancellations, it wouldn't surprise me one bit...
I have booked on plenty of websites that only allow US credit cards, and never had a problem using my non-US card, actual street address and zip but random state and US as the country.

FWIW, from elsewhere on FT I read that zip & street address is what the CC companies look for, state hasn't mattered...
