It seems that they cancelling reservations on same name and/or made with same CC-details. Affected are reservations from Nov. to now.
Determining is not the eMail-address.
I once made +30 bookings by using a number of different credit cards and they cancelled everything except 3 bookings. What the hell??
I don't think it is foreign issued cards causing cancellations because I was able to stay at a hotel in Korea for 5 nights by using cards issued in South Korea.
What is going on?
I've ordered 2 giftcards (mastercard) from Australia, This time, I really wish it is going to work, fingers crossed
If I want to download the voucher of one of my bookings at HC I get the following information
"We have received your correspondence to cancel your booking. We have now cancelled your booking at the Hotel and we have already processed the full refund due. An email has been sent to you outlining the cancellation details."
Does anybody knows if Hotelclub charge the EUR 15 for the cancellation (although I do not want to cancel it) or if the cancellation fee of EUR 15 will NOT be charged in this case.
Has anybody the possibility to check his credit card in real-time?
This is starting to remind me of the mess of last years La Quinta Resort for $25 that I was the OP on BFT and was reposted over here by someone else.
One person ended up suing Priceline and Hilton and was able to recover the full cost of what was the comparable worth night(s) stay (there is a record in this FT hotel forum of the case). This should be as well. They have NO RIGHT to cancel any reservation under their own terms and conditions. I, for one, would certainly sue them in my home state, California, if they ever tried to cancel a reservation, just as the person who won their case against Hilton and Priceline did (in California).

How well I remember the La Quinta Priceline fiasco. If I recall correctly, the FT'er took Hilton (Priceline, too?) the small claims court?

Correct. In the east bay of SF, if I remember correctly.
This really isn't any different. This is a pre-purchase just like the Name Your Own Price on Priceline for the La Quinta Resort from 2007 not last year as I posted since we're already in 2009.

although i feel that this is a notch too much, i can understand people making that move.
one of my bookings was canceled on mid-air with me arriving only a few hours after the cancellation at a fully booked hotel. me arriving without knowing anything put me firstly in and awkward situation at the front desk and through the hassle having to find a room in a totally buzzing city having to pay an inflated price i could've avoided - but only with a backup booking that will also be released at 6pm local time, too early for my arrival. I'd certainly enjoy seeing the additional cost (time spent to research hotel, cab fare, higher hotel rate than my usual average rate) returned into my account!
not holding AU or US citizenship, I however doubt they will even have a second look at any complaint. I still didn't get any reply to the cancelations I supposedly started!!!

Reason: typo
We have reviewed the bookings that you have made on HotelClub, each one of
which utilizes member dollars obtained through the use of a promotion
intended to be used once per customer. No individual qualifies to use this
promotional offer on more than one occasion.
As allowed under the terms and conditions of membership that you agreed to
when joining the HotelClub Membership Program, we are therefore cancelling
these member dollars resulting in your bookings being cancelled.
Any chance i can still show the voucher and still stay?
Correct. In the east bay of SF, if I remember correctly.

IMHO, anyone suing HotelClub is on much weaker terms than the Priceline incident. There, you "named your own price" and it was accepted. It took them weeks to claim mistake. And the mistake was hardly obvious -- for instance, I've stayed at that hotel for $50 on a priceline bid.
Here, we all knew (or should have known) that hotelclub was under no obligation to honor multiple email accounts. Indeed, I recall someone previously posting language from the site noting that it was "one bonus per customer." So while I hope as many people (including me!) get their future reservations honored, I'm not going to encourage anyone to go down to the courthouse and "fight the SOBs."

I just don't want to find out when I am trying to check in at a Swiss mountain chalet in Grindelwald in June.

Yeah, I couldn't agree more.
BTW, for those who have had reservations cancelled, did they simultaneously refund whatever you paid to your credit card? That's really the only other big issue in my mind. If we're going to break from travelclub, I want it to be nice and clean. No haggling over deposits and such.

From what I see here, the answer to that is "no". It's "being processed" and then they claim the refund has already been completed when you ask for it?
Nice.
I feel a few services not rendered disputes coming on. Save your credit card statements!
