I just received another email for one of the reservations I made in November, which has now been cancelled with the reason being that I have used a promotion intended for a one-time use more than once.
Looks like I"m in HOtelClub's boo box.
Wowowo... I am sure this would make a lot of people including me worry!!!

I've taken the stance that if they honor the reservations, OK, if not, then not. But, if they refuse to refund the monies incurred in some of the higher end bookings, I will be extremely irate. But no worry, I will just appeal to my credit card agency for services not rendered.
I hope the cancellations stop for everyone's sake.

Now, it just makes me wonder if they have the right to charge us the $50 after the hotel has been stayed? I have 6 bookings before April. :-) Sound like it will be cancelled soon.... I dont' care if they don't honor the bookings, but I just dont' want them cancel in last min!!!

As long as you have the receipt showing the amount charged, the hotel cannot and will not charge you anything over and above this. The reciept is a binding contract - there is no way for them to increase the amount owing months after the fact.

5 for 5 so far w/ no problems.
Thanks to thr OP, this has been a great promo for me. Especially after they changed the rules on for the free rooms via the BRG.
When I attempt to open the confirmation email I originally received, it shows that the room has been "cancelled at my request" and a refund is being processed to my credit card. So while I'll keep an eye on it, it appears that my stint in the HotelClub boo box will not include them keeping money that should be given back.
As well, when I attempt to access my accounts through their website, it shows that my account is "currently inactive." I would imagine that if you can get into your HotelClub account(s) and see your reservations, your situation is quite different than mine.

Wonder what happend to you. How you booked your hotel? You book them at the same time? Same hotel? same credit card? How many bookings you made? Too many questions :-) But thank you for letting us know.

If you are having trouble finding rooms in a particular area, email me at my website and we'll keep an eye on BRGs in the area you need. I have never NOT had every room I needed on a BRG trip. It just takes advance planning and a keen eye. Drop me a line sometime and I would be glad to help you out.

Those who are getting cancellations, did you use the same card multiple times or not clear cookies between bookings? 40 credit cards is a lot to have, so I'll assume the former is the case. Strange that they wait for the tube promo to end before canceling Nov bookings. Nervous once again. I really hope they don't ruin my roadtrip. I'll definitely be watching this thread for quite a while.
I believe my problem was I (stupidly) opened accounts using my "real" name, which made it easy to cross-reference. I'm usually a little more on the uptake than that, but again I wasn't really investing much into the whole thing.
So I imagine those who were more astute than myself will be fine.
Mine were definitely cancelled because of multiple bookings. I had already spoken to Amex to let them know that I would have many bookings from Australia and not to put a hold on my card plus the cancellation came from Hotelclub.
I should have used more variations for my name, but trying for volume just made me take shortcuts. After 6 stays everything just seemed to be going well.
One thing that I wonder about, is that my 1st reservations were all in the US and in the last week I made many reservations abroad... one at the same hotel for 5 consecutive days. I wonder if this is what triggered the red flags?
Haven't seen the new CC statement so I don't know yet if any of the charges were removed. They better be!
Anyway, I definitely appreciate my 6 nights and hope everybody else's reservations are honored.
Just like you purchase something from apple.com (US website) by using a US credit card. But you cannot use your US credit card to buy something from apple.com/hk (You have to use a Hong Kong credit card)... cause the address wont' match...
...???
I can use my credit card issued in country X in any country I like, full stop. Different merchants' different shipping policies are an altogether different matter.
