The question is, are they refunding the money you put down on top of the $50? They better, or they'll hear from my lawyer fairly quickly. I've given them hundreds of dollars thus far.
I've emailed them to ask them and I'll be watching my credit cards. It's under $10 a room so I'm not sweating it, although I will be making sure it gets done.
I made these reservations on New Years Day, mostly to "use up" some accounts I had opened so I was contacted pretty quickly. I still have a couple of reservations that I was not contacted about, I'm assuming they're still fine as they were made about six weeks ago.

Maybe its because yours were concurrent reservations?

Three back to back nights, same hotel, alternating between husband and myself, same last name. So it was rather obvious.
As I mentioned, I was "using up" some accounts. They emailed me right away, which is certainly preferable to them just cancelling and not advising. And I still have a couple of reservations that I really needed that I expect are fine.
So no harm, no foul, as long as they refund the few dollars they owe me.

I am FAR from being an expert on this kind of stuff, but my sense is trying to be "cute" on these reservations results in many of the problems. i.e. changing reservation names.....using different credit cards....reservation names and credit card names that don't match....
Both HotelClub's and your credit card processor's computers are programmed to detect fraudulent activity, and this is exactly what it looks like when real fraud is occurring.
My experience has been making HotelClub reservations one-day-at-a-time is perfectly fine as long as:
1. all the information is consistent and accurate, and
2 my credit card processor has been pre-notified to expect multiple small charges from a single UK vendor.

But I agree, the only thing "cute" can be the hotelclub accounts themselves. I have accounts as Homer Simpson, OJ Simpson, Orange Juice, and other things where my mind drifted into creativity...
But, when I book, I use the real check in name, real credit card, and real address.
My credit card billing is UK. This is what my statement looks like...
"HOTELCLUB.NET INTERNET GBR"
I assume GBR is Great Britain. Maybe it's Great Barrier Reef?
Well, it looks like all 40+ reservations are cancelled at this point. Bummer! I at least got to use 6 of my nights. I wonder if consecutive nights at the same establishment got the reservations cancelled?

I believe that they have 10 Global offices. USA, Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Spain, UK and New Zealand. They probably have 10 different banks in each of the global location. (I guess it depends on where your credit card issue from, and they may route the transcation to the country of the global office)
Just like you purchase something from apple.com (US website) by using a US credit card. But you cannot use your US credit card to buy something from apple.com/hk (You have to use a Hong Kong credit card)... cause the address wont' match...

Did you book the 40+ reservations at the same time? Did all the transcation (money they charge you) actually post it on your account yet???
If the transcation post it on your account, HotelClub probably cancel it because they find out. If the transcations never post on your account, only Pending transcation (authorized), probably your credit card denied your charge.
I just received another email for one of the reservations I made in November, which has now been cancelled with the reason being that I have used a promotion intended for a one-time use more than once.
