please excuse my lack of knowledge, but i cant seem to figure out how this "deal" makes sence for hotelclub, how can they afford to have such a Promotion, most people book a hotel without paying a single cent. where is the advantage for hotelclub?

They (naively) believe that people will open a single account, try their services, and be hooked and come to them for future revenue bookings. Of course, no one would think of opening more than one account, would they?

Our other option at this point would be to book a room for Sunday night and show up tomorrow and act stupid. "Honey how could you get the date wrong?" Anyone tried that with any luck? FTR this is a hotel in our hometown run by an owner/operator that we stayed with during the expedia $50 off deal and we are staying there again on NYE.
So I dropped by the hotel while out running errands this afternoon to inquire about switching tomorrow night for tonight with the promise of staying there on NYE and NYD also. They couldn't have been any nicer about it even allowing me to check in then for my convenience. She offered to put my Wyndham number on the bookings so I'd get credit. I didn't even have my confirmation certificate with me which didn't seemingly matter, though I will leave it signed in the room. Of course it did set me back slightly over $4.
What is with the new reservation screen? It always asks me to make a deposit and pay the rest to the hotel, and does not give me an option anywhere to use the credit (I am logged in, it says I have 50$ at the top). I'm in Rome right now and realised I booked a my dates for 2009 and now im stuck without hotels because I cannot get the 50$ credits to be used on the new reservation page.

I think you have book a couple of days out to try and get hotels prepaid.
I just did some more bookings, and had no problem except when trying to book for 2morrow. Good luck.

This guy has no idea what he is talking about. You may choose any "instant confirmation" hotels to use your member dollars on. Blue "24 hour request" hotels can also be used with member dollars, but you need to wait for hotel approval.
Additionally, you can redeem member dollars for the down payment on RoomsToGo hotels only (the balance is payable at the property).
