I don't think any hotel on Earth will care about a baby as part of occupancy. It's a baby...
FWIW, I've never even quoted children (4-6) on my reservations, and I've never had a problem having them in the room. This at 50+ different hotels with them.

I'm no psychic, so I can't tell you if they will ask. If they give you a hard time, just plead ignorant/stupid "I wanted to stay 6 nights, so don't I need 6 reservations"? They'll smirk and probe no further.

You just answered your own question. If they aren't required, they really aren't required.

I tried to book 2 night for 12/24 and 12/25 in Pleasanton, CA and found a great rate of $52 when requresting both nights. However, when I tried to book the nights separately, the lowest price jumped to $70. The $52/night rate was available directly from the hotel on a single night booking, so it was not an issue of a hotel imposed minimum stay. I went ahead and booked 2 separate nights at the higher rate because it was still a great deal for this hotel, but I wondered if hotelclub is starting to discourage single night bookings in light of its very generous sign up bonus $$. Anyone else seen this?-- Suzanne
Yes. I have seen this frequently on HotelClub, especially for Las Vegas properties on weekends.
I think it is the hotels themselves that are running the multi-night discounts for the lower rate.
Regarding the children issue, the hotel is almost certain to follow their own policies. In the USA, that means that children are almost always free in the existing bedding (and most but not all hotels provide free baby cribs). Overseas, it can vary. Check the hotel's own website for details, and if you don't like the answer there, you can call (most of the time, the hotel's actual policy is more lenient than what's on their website). If you have kids who need beds, make sure the hotelclub room has 2 beds (or book them their own room and hope there's a connecting door). Oddly, I've found some Choice Hotels that have given hotelclub inventory on king bed rooms, but not 2 double rooms. I figure it's just another programming screw-up.
The multi-night minimum issue is almost certainly generated by the hotel itself. You'll find it almost all the time with weekend hotel rooms in Vegas, and occasionally elsewhere, particularly in resort areas. I've come across it on hotelclub. I WANTED to stay 2 nights at one such property, but the property will cost me 50 bucks more since I can't get the $50 discount off each night. Oh, well.
In general, this promo is a very valuable tool in one's travel arsenal, but it isn't always the solution (especially if you're no fan of barebones properties selling for $50). I've been able to make it work for me a little less than half the time for my reservations in the next couple of months. That's probably better luck than I get with priceline, so I'm pleased.

That works. But when we book for a hotel we'd like to get credit for we usually just say that we weren't sure how many days we were going to be staying in city X so we just kept booking additional nights as our trip expanded, specifically because each night was the lower pre-paid rate. And, after all, we prefer to stay at their lovely hotel anyway...we just love the staff. That gets a smile every time.
Very true.... but FYI it can take a while to get the cash... looks like 1 month for hotelclub.
That's pretty standard for most rebate sites. Many can take much longer than a month, especially some of the airlines mileage malls. Still chasing miles 6 months later in many cases.
Click here to enter hotelclub.com via the VIA Preference E-Boutique (= mall) & also earn 1 VIA point for every (Cdn.?) $ U spend!
Brendan-
have you had any VIA points post yet? Has it been for the full amount of the room booked, or just your cash balance portion? And for the VIA mall does the email address on the booking reservation need to match the VIA account? Could use some VIA points, but already used the HC account that had the same email address...
Geez CT, I just found the link yesterday ! It takes a month or so to post points!
I know nothing other than what the VIA & Hotel Club Websites say. I would guess NO on the email addy ??--just like any other online mall, clicking from VIA onto Hotel Club should suffice. Also, I bet we earn just on cash spending, not on travel $$.

I have found part of my answer on hyatt.com :
1. "An "Eligible Rate" is any hotel published room rate, including, but not limited to, rates found on hyatt.com, hyattplace.com, hyattsummerfiedsuites.com or any Hyatt Gold Passport Hotel Partner website, prevailing rack rate, BAR, volume, AAA and senior citizen rates, etc. "Ineligible Rates" are discounted rates, including, but not limited to, any free night stays, Internet wholesale rates (such as priceline.com, hotels.com, etc.), traditional wholesale rates (such as GOGO Worldwide Vacations, Pleasant Holidays, etc.) ..."
2. "When booking pre-paid vacation packages through a traditional wholesaler at Hyatt Hotels & Resorts in the U.S., Canada or the Caribbean, member will receive 500 Hyatt Gold Passport bonus points for each night of the stay in lieu of points for the packaged room rate ... however, member will receive stay credit toward tier status and promotions..."
The rates I have seen on hotelclub.com are usually rates published on hyatt.com, so therefore should be Eligible Rates per the above! In contrast, some other chains (Hilton, Marriott ? , IC ? ) do not give points & credit on stays booked via travel agents, other Websites, etc.--even on otherwise eligible rates.
Bad news! I just used my bonus to book a HP for Dec. 26, then called Hyatt Diamond Line to check. She said it's an Ineligible Rate from orbitz.com despite being a Hyatt Daily Rate, not wholesale.
Let's wait & see, but it looks like Bostonbali #473 & Azepine00 #475 may be right after all ! Gee, I should have tested it on a 2009 stay!

The rates published on hyatt.com are just that - rates published on hyatt.com
Just because the rate on any other site is equal or higher than the on hyatt.com doesn't make it eligible. While you may get lucky, I wouldn't count on it.
Past experience has shown me that unless you book direct with the hotel chain itself most stays won't be eligible through third party discounted rates. YMMV

I booked at Hyatt Las Vegas, Hilton Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood Las Vegas and all of them were not eligible. I did also not get upgraded rooms because I made my bookings with HotelClub

Yes, if you have concrete enough plans or the hotel(s) you'd book won't cost anything out of pocket. I'm considering putting together an extended stay as each booking I'd make is $49 and covered completely by member dollars.
