If you do a no-show, then the hotel will charge you the full room rate - meaning they'll keep the money that HotelClub has sent them (which would usually come from your credit card, but in this case, does not). The hotel never recieves your credit card information. This is how vouchers work. The vendor pays for blocks of rooms months and months in advance, and sells them to you at a premium. The hotel has already been paid, and if they haven't, they are paid on the day of stay using a HotelClub Corporate credit account.

Basis this, is it advisable to call the hotel and tell them your not coming, or just pull a no-show?.......or does it really matter?

Doesn't matter.

That may or may not be true as far as when they are paid. For example, I've used priceline's Name Your Own Price service since its inception and they've charged it to the priceline MasterCard for years at check-in or out. Many times the priceline MasterCard number has been shown on my receipts. Last year at the (bid 3* but get upgraded to Resort) La Quinta Hotel in La Quinta, California for $25, it not only showed the priceline MasterCard but because I didn't charge anything to my card, I even avoided the resort fee which was listed on the room charge to priceline.

Yes, I alluded to this fact regarding a corporate credit account as well in my response. Basically, the hotel is "paid" by HotelClub through whichever means, never by the person booking the room, so your credit card means nothing to them.

So if we booked a $110 room for 6 nights , we would use Hotelclub dollars 6 times to pay for each night and pay the rest of it by our credit cards and then get 6 vouchers to present at the hotel , is it correct ?
We'll be leaving for New Orleans next year so any tips / input regarding this would be really appreciated .
Im so glad i came accross this website . Thank you so much !!!!!!

Yes. Just be sure to check the prices on an alternate website - some prices I've seen are so inflated that it's cheaper NOT to use this deal. And don't trust their rating system at all. If you're going with an unknown, check TripAdvisor. But yes, that's how it would work.

Definitely true. The break-even point looks to be around $90/night - with the discount, under $90 you'd be hard pressed to find anything cheaper than the $45 you'd pay on HotelClub. This would be the limit of sorts where Priceline or other sites would be ineffective. I've been doing it the ultra-Frugal way and booking only hotels in the $50 - $60 range, hard pressed to find anything cheaper when the rate is only a couple of bucks!

And yes, check Tripadvisor and the HotelClub user ratings. But, don't believe the HotelClub ratings that much - these are International users for the most part and from what I gather, standards greatly vary! I stayed at a motel with decent HotelClub ratings a couple weeks back, and when I arrived, it was the dumpiest piece of junk I've ever experienced - and I've been to plenty of cheapie trucker dump motels in my life. That one took the cake.

Is anyone else experiencing problems with not being provided the option to use member dollars to pay for a room? I have $49 member dollars from a recently opened account, but when I try to book $39 room at the Quality Inn Maingate West in Orlando, I am asked to pay a deposit of $8.85 with the remainder ($33.15) payable to the hotel. The hotel is not a last minute deal.

I've tried two other hotels with similar results. At no point am I provided the option to use my member dollars.

Upon further research, apparently this hotel is a last minute deal which explains the problem above.

This is great...

So far i have booked 3 nights in HKG for around $1.7 or £1.5 each night.

I list the price in dollars all the way though until the final screen where i change it to pounds as then i don't get charged a fee for using dollars. Each day from now on i will be booking hotels in Tiawan, Philippines and the states for by pre-booked trips.

I might even sign up for a few spare accounts and just hope that the credit remains until after the new year.

------

PS for people in the UK you also get cash back from Quidco (it tracks at the full price...), On a £1.50 hotel (after cash back) i got £1.27 cash back! Sadly i only found this after i booked 2 nights so i have only done this once so far.

You might not even need to be in the UK to get the £££, just make sure you have a paypal account.

I tried to book 2 night for 12/24 and 12/25 in Pleasanton, CA and found a great rate of $52 when requresting both nights. However, when I tried to book the nights separately, the lowest price jumped to $70. The $52/night rate was available directly from the hotel on a single night booking, so it was not an issue of a hotel imposed minimum stay. I went ahead and booked 2 separate nights at the higher rate because it was still a great deal for this hotel, but I wondered if hotelclub is starting to discourage single night bookings in light of its very generous sign up bonus $$. Anyone else seen this?-- Suzanne

I haven't experienced any problems. I'm seeing more sub-$50 properties than I can shake a stick at for single night stays.

Thanks for your reply . I just checked TripAdvisor and their price is about the same compared to the one that im gonna book at Hotelclub . We're be staying with a 5 month old baby and i was just wondering if had to claim her because when i did it says " your Adults and Children selections exceed the room capacity of the room you have selected . Please review or select more room " which we dont want to since it would cost us much more .

Is it okie if we just claimed 2 of us but check-in with a little baby ? Has any one experienced this ?
If i booked multi reservations ( 6 times ) , would i be asked any questions at the check-ins ?
Lastly , do i have to provide the city/state/zipcode regarding billing credit card address since their fields are not required ?

Thank you so much guys .
