Love this thread and have learned so much information. Just booked a five night stay in San Francisco for less than $100.

First time hotelclub user. Looks like the $50 voucher adn the $30 Christmas dollars can't be used together, correct? It tells me they can't be combined when I try to register. Am I doing something wrong?

No, you can't combine them (discusion about this is going on Ho ho ho! Additional hotelclub member voucher - use by 10 December (get $80 total) ) . Just use the best available... The $50 offer expires sooner than the other ones.

More realistically, you can get the SFO downtown Hilton for $69 using the $50 off coupon. Not a fantastic hotel, but obviously acceptable. That's cheaper than I recall seeing it on priceline, and Hhonors member might get some benefits.

In general, the Hiltons seem to be decent values on hotelclub because they let you book the regular discounted nonrefundable rates, less $50. That makes the rates competitive to the opaque sites.

Ironically, I was looking for a night near the SFO airport, and there don't seem to be good hotelclub deals there (prices are no better than downtown for similar quality, which is not how it should be).

Someone found the deal and posted it on SlickDeals.net and it's been copied over at HotCouponWorld.com. Get your bookings in. Those two sites kill every deal.

FWIW, I've had hotelclub charges hit several cards and I haven't had to pay any int'l transaction fees. Maybe they "fixed" their processing system so that US customers could avoid these now prevalent fees.

I haven't had to pay for anything either, it's been the exact amount quoted in CAD charged to my CAD card

With the $50 coupon can we use another email account and open another membership? Or do they match the name on the credit card to users that have used the offer?

hahahaaha - read the thread. That is funny!

In other words - some people on here have signed up 30 times or more.

Does anyone remember if there's one credit card company that is better than another on these types of transactions? I'd use that card to avoid the fee. Thanks.
I was told that Discover was good for this. I read the same on the internet a few good times as well. Don't hold me to this. Check out creditcards.com.

I thought there was some sort of agreement on cross posting or is that just with mileage runs.

This $50 deal originated (at least in terms of this community) on my website. I cross posted it here, to share it with everyone. Between my website and Flyertalk, there's no chance of this not being cross posted elsewhere. Someone on Slickdeals saw it here or there, and took it there. Such is life. It's lasted a full week so far with hundreds of thousands of sign ups (a rough estimate) so I doubt this will be lost anytime soon. I'm sure HotelClub knows people are signing up.

There's a lengthy discussion on foreign exchange in this thread already. You may check out he FT wiki referenced in the thread for updates as well.

Thanks OP!
When I go road trippin myself I like to go camping, but that will make the decision a bit more challenging when motels are cheaper than campsites.
