Any past experience with agoda?
Just got the exact same email around an hour ago

I'm happy with that since mine was just a speculative booking and I haven't found any airfare deals to NAN yet.

Actually I do save with the additional charges.

I am asked to pay an extra XY USD (the 25% discount applies for the deposit as well) for a XY night stay.

As compensation for the trouble the hotel will provide transfer to and from the resort (value 460 FJ$ // 225 USD), resort credit (100 FJ$ // 49 USD) and a massage for one (value 50 FJ $ // 24 USD)... That is pretty impressive and I am really looking forward for my stay.

Seris7, thank you for posting.

I also received the cancellation email.
Anyone else surprised that it took them 20 days to send it. Since their reputation is at stake either way, it's in their advantage to send it sooner than later as the hope that it will be honored increases every day that they don't communicate.

Although I was expecting that at this stage they would have fullly honoured that deal, I think it's a very good compensation package they are offering considering that they are offering a package of about 300 usd in bonuses.

Well I have had a closer look into their mail and did some math.

Agoda mixed it up completly. The new price should have been for 1 night only instead for my entire stay. Now I have to worry again

I was confused already about agoda asking for XX USD but the hotel providing a package worth a lot more and also 25% for an upcoming booking.

btw: If you don't mind I would kindly ask you to remove the number of days and the price difference from my quote. Thank you.

Though it took an inordinate amount of time to be notified, I suppose it's better to hear now than at check-in.

Got the same. Wanted $982.74 more for the 7 night stay.
It was a speculative booking on my end anyway and will take the 25% OFF coupon.

At least I gained something out of it. Thanks for posting!!!

Guys, are your bookings cancelled by agoda or by yourself?
Mine seems still active...

The booking is still active with agoda. But the email from agoda gave me two options; pay additional $900+ or cancel without penalty. and if I don’t response by April 27th, it will automatically default to option 2 and the reservation will be cancelled.

Did anyone try to reduce the duration of the stay given that agoda now wants to charge extra for the reservations? For those that accepted option 1 - were the original cancellation rules (i.e. deadline and penalty) retained?
