you can not compare a Bentley with a Volkswagen Passat.

park hyatt is one of the best hotels in tokyo, 40.000 yen is a catch and i would pay that without blinking for the park.

hilton at 18000 yen is a crap hole, rooms are small, view is midicore.

its like comparing a Patek with a Swatch.

cheers dp
To be honest, 40,000 is not that rare to get! Many of the advance purchase rates can be had at 37,000 JPY at the PHT. I have seen it for as low as 34,000. Combine that with a Suite Upgrade and I'm with you. I'd pay that without batting an eyelash.

I stayed there over Golden Week in a suite for 29500 JPY/night via BRG and Diamond suite upgrade. The regular rate was twice that!

I know! So excited! I called last night and the first website they said didn't qualify but I mentioned a second website and she put me on hold for about 15 min and the confirmed the rate... Should I use points for a suite upgrade? It's only a one night stay and I'm traveling alone.

I wouldn't. If it's your first time, then enjoy the base room (which is still awesome), and leave the suite as something to look forward to next time around.

Good point. Also, I checked and my reservation is an "advanced rate" so it's not the daily rate required for suite upgrade. I think I will be okay in the base room

Just to followup: did anybody actually use this rate for a stay at the PH and have it honored? What was the rate charged? Any problems at checkin?
